No, it isn't illegal. The club or the radio usually pays a fee to the recording industry association of the respective country which also includes the tracks you are playing.

EDIT: Arrrrgh! ^^^

Actually no they are not. In general, clubs pay a fee to an organization annually which grants them the rights to play whatever they want in the club. That fee goes towards record companies, artists etc to compensate them for the usage just as you would find in a radio station for example.

yeah thats what they say but in all honesty if you looked further into it you would see more then 50% of the clubs not paying a fee trust me.. unless your a top 40 radio station or club that plays top 40 youll have to pay the rights to most big labels but for small labels who carry trance / prog really dont obey by it, its just labeled on the record mainly there incase happens... for instants you have john digweed now playing 50% of his set on cdr all promos he might got ..you think every club is gonna make sure he got the rights because burned cdrs u know many djs dont get full permission from artist all the time. I think you guys are right in some standards but i think its more for the Top40 popular music and big labels that carry that out where as the smaller electronic labels there so many out there some are small labels and in all honest they truely dont care..but legaly they could sue someone who doesnt have broadcasting rights but they never do. Because so many big djs use cdrs now and many djs dont always get the right to play those tracks from the aritst him self.

Why don't you just cut up the version from politics of dancing and use that? It's only like 8 minutes, iirc...

yeah i always wondered what the hell that unathorized public performance was on the sleves lolz, welp did ya know if you obeyed laws as they are meant to be it is illegal to bring your own DVD disc which you purchased to a friends house and watch it there? as in if i bought the movie, watched it at my house, then brought it over to a friends and watched with him on his DVD player in technicality that is breaking the law, so basically " tha polize" lolz
