yea, i have a subscription to the ebgames magazine, and it said something similar, about how square/enix was doing a REMAKE... i wish there was some consistent news :p

Yes, you're right about it being still being produced, but I meant maybe they'd release it with very minor enhancements, like graphics upgrades for instance. Possibly adding in a couple more CG movies, maybe a few extra weapons. But that's as far as it probably would go. Nothing major, like adding voices. Ah what am I saying? Those little upgrades would be enough anyway to make me buy the game all over again, even though I have the original anyway.

so hold up, there remaking FFVII? with what? new cg/graphics? hope they dont touch the story cause frankly the game was perfect if you ask me :P

and then there releasing this dvd with the remake of the game? urgh hope you can buy it seperately, i aint got cash to forkout for another game :P

perfect except for a stupid-ass ending

beautiful CG. that was the cloud i wanted to see in game. Not the 7 triangle model in the games FMV sequences. I really wanted to see cloud in game looking exactly like the concept art that was used to model.

yes, let's discuss about the 404 error:

Don't listen to any of the magazine, newsletter, etc reports you have read....

So yeah, don't listen to all the talk about remakes or whatever. I'll say that there's probably a lot more than what's been announced so far....and that's all I'll say so I don't get into trouble.

Anyway, yeah the trailer kicks ass. I had the privilege to see it running on huge screens at the press conference Square-Enix had to announce it in Tokyo.

Note that's it's not going to be a full length movie - Square-Enix said its goal was for it to be around 60 minutes at the press conference.

sektile - with the story in FFVII, if you pay attention to the store, you will find some GAPING holes in the storyline. I don't think it takes away from the storyline too much, but as an RPG fan I notice that stuff and it irritates me. :p I hope that if a remake is ever made, they at least tie up the loose ends.

If a remake is ever made, I'd expect these minimal enhancements:

1. Upgrade the music and sound to take advantage of the PS2's sound capabilities. FFVII on the PSX had a great soundtrack, but just imagine how the music would be if better midi-synths were used!
2. Make fully 3D instead of using pre-rendered backgrounds.
3. Redo CG movies completely - two teams worked on the original FFVII CG sequences, and if you pay attention you will notice which team worked on what. Simply look for the movies where the characters are normal, human proportions and others where they are SD (Super-Deformed). Also, FMV sequences on the PSX could only go at 15 frames per second, and FFVII's were 320x240.
4. Tie up the loose ends to the current storyline.
5. A few of the main characters had little character development done. More background would be cool!

Well Dave, you certainly know ur FFVII!

They can add more depth & change graphics, but not teh core of the story imo. I neva expected Aeris 2 cum bak & if they bring her bak in the remake, i'd b pissed. I saw her death as an integral part of the story, changing that wud make it a different game.

As for the movie, I can't wait, this will b wot FF:TSW shud hav been!

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children will take place two years after the original PlayStation Final Fantasy VII game. The world looks to be peaceful, having avoided destruction, but inhabitants have begun suffering a new physical malaise called Seikon-Shoukougun.

Cloud has been living alone up to this point. While Sephiroth was seen in promotional footage at the Tokyo Game Show, it is not known if he has been resurrected or if his appearance was a dramatization from Cloud's past.

Two mysterious characters are seen in Advent Children--one is a gray-haired man in a tight black costume (actually seen fighting duels with Cloud during various promotional events at TGS). Another mysterious character is covered in white linen from head to toe, seen sitting in a wheelchair. No hints have been given as to who this character is.

The game's creative staff is listed as the following:

Director: Tetsuya Nomura (Final Fantasy VII character designer, Kingdom Hearts director)
Co-Director: Takeshi Nozue (Final Fantasy IX CG designer, Final Fantasy X animation director)
Producer: Yoshinori Kitase (Final Fantasy X director)
Co-Producer: Shinji Hashimoto (Final Fantasy VIII producer)
Script Writer: Kazunari Nojima (Final Fantasy X script writer)
Art Director: Yusuke Naora (Final Fantasy X art director)
Music Composition: Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy series music composer)
Mech and Creature Design: Takayuki Takeya (Anime "Heat Guy J" mech designer, freelance figure artist)

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is scheduled for release in the summer of 2004.

I've seen the trailer a while back and I'm really excitied to see it. :) It has to be good and if it sucks, Sqaure is gonna suck just as bad. ;) I really don't know who the silver hair guy with short hair is but I always thought it was Sephiroth. :) As for the person in the wheelchair.. Jenova? :conf: These are just some theories that I thought of, could be wrong of course. ;)
