Need some input on Trance CDs

Hey people,

I'm looking for some good DJs/CDs to purchase. I have been into Trance for 3 years but I fell off the rave scene about a year ago, so I'm having a hard time finding good CDs to pick up. I really only like George Acosta (which I know isn't a favorite on this board), DJ Micro, and DJ X Dream. I'm looking for Trance music like GA spins. He is one of the only DJs I have listened to that throws so many buildups into his sets. DJs like Tiesto and other popular ones are just weak in my opinion. Thanks in advance for the help!

eye03 thanks a lot for that great feedback. Care to expand on that wonderful reply?

Now again if anyone would like to offer up some DJs and or CDs to check out I would appreciate it.

I actually though eye's reply was quite good ;) Certainly gets the point across.

If you like GA and not tiesto, im sure you will totally dig Dj Mystik
DJ Nuclear
I never really liked GA....I saw DJ X-Dream live and he played a pretty good set (he even cranked up pocket damage when I started cheering :D)

Armin Van Buuren plays a lot of stuff with long epic build ups...this is kind of getting old though, I think people now are trying to move beyond the traditional trance formula.

If you think Armin is formulaic... what on earth is Acosta? Btw, if you look at any big DJ's recent lists, I think you'll find more than "uplifting song after uplifting song"... think Armin, Ferry, Tiesto, PvD... if you want something a bit more progressive, look at guys like Markus Schulz, Gabriel & Dresden, James Holden

Thanks to everyone that made a helpful reply.

DJ Nuclear-I understand that music changes but the thing that draws me to Trance are the buildups. That is what gets me going. Maybe things are changing and thats why I'm so disappointed in most of the CDs I buy lately. Everything I pick up just seems flat. I'll pick up Armen Van Buren like you suggested I've heard him before.

Stories-I'll definitely do some looking around for these guys "if you want something a bit more progressive, look at guys like Markus Schulz, Gabriel & Dresden, James Holden" I haven't heard of any of them. As far as Ferry goes I just picked up his new CD and I'm pretty disappointed with that. I could take it or leave it.

So sorry about the rave statement. That's what they were called when I went to them.

Wretched-I didn't come here to act like an . I know how these message boards work and I am a regular on quite a few online mesage boards. I didn't appreciate the sarcasm for a simple question. I spend hours a day helping newbies on my boards and I just wanted a little help from the regulars on this board.
