Okay, I don't know if this has been discussed before or if you guys even care.. haha, but I thought I would share this anyway.

For some time ago a mp3 group released "Thomas Bangalter & Dj Falcon - Call on me"

They did not make this tune and I think the guys who made it should get all the credits for this excellent excellent tune!!

The original is called:

Steve Winwood - Call On Me (Retarded & Mafia's 2003 Mix)

Its produced by a Sweden/UK Production duo and the Swedish guy is a close friend of mine. The background story is:

Here in Sweden we had a Valborg Cruise in April, where 00 fleming played and Corsten amongst all. A friend of mine, Özgür Can (Coming up with a release on Plastica Red) had a gig on the trancefloor and he is a close friend with the "Retarded" guy (Yamazaki). Yamazaki had earlier on sent this tune to him and he urged him to finish it so he could play it. And he finished it and the track never got played. haha!!

But of its star potential and feel good status it moved on and on and reached alot of people and it got released by a mp3 group and they named it Thomas Bangalter & Dj Falcon - Call On Me. Don't ask me why.

We mailed Steve Winwood and asked him if Retarded & Mafia could use the samples but unfortunately he doesn't allow anyone use his samples.

If you wan't to have a listen to the original go in to:

Steve Winwood's homepage, then go under discography and choose his solo projects.
The album is named "Talking Back to the Night" and the song is "Valerie"

I hope you guys got along and I know its not a trance tune but its so good and has a real nice feeling to it I thought it should get the appreciation it deserves and that Retarded & Mafia should get all credits for this track.

Cheers,

Omid

WOW this is amazing !

Because:

I got a sample from this track months ago and i thought "this must be produced by Bangalter" and that was the reason (i think) because it was labled as "Call on me by Thomas Bangalter"... the story goes on:

I was at a private party some weeks ago and a DJ there had a track very similar to the sample i heared and it was "nurserun - call on me" it sounds very simply but contains the original sample and is distributed in Germany by www.web-records.com. Nowhere else are copys available and it should come from the Uk (the label-code says).

It´s a amazing track, played it at my birthday 2 weeks ago.

thanks for the info again
Civic
by the way:

is the version you are talking about available for ahhh "hearing"? pm me plz
Proximus
I heard the Nurserun track, sounds strange enough. Seems as if they sampled the Steve Winwood track, gonna chat with my friends on this.

nice story heh...where can we (as civic said) "listen" to the track?
Proximus
Well this is Retardeds statement he gave in a Swedish forum:

After having talks with the other producer of the track we have come to the conclusion that:

1. The 100% finished song won't be released on whitelabel or by us. People close to us are the only ones who'll get it. I'll surely play it in the future.

2.We never wanted to and wont be famous by this song, as people believe this is a song produced by together (bangalter & falcon) they might as well believe it, less problems for us.

I hope you understand this and won't call us idiots for not following this up, as you don't know how much pressure me and the other producer have been during this half year.

Enjoy the music

Peace

well i guess we wont listen to the full track...it seems as they are really nice guys but the shouldnt give up their tries to "get" their track back...anyways..
Proximus
Yeah, but since the track sounds so much like Together they decided not to follow it up, as people can start calling them rip-offs and such, they wan't to have their own style. This track was as said, never even meant to be.

Haha :)

This is very interesting. The track certainly has a Bangalter and Falcon feel to it. I think DJ Falcon has been playing this track in his sets and this maybe were te confusion came from.

Don't care who it's by but i ing love it! :D

Proximus
You guys are not alone. I love this tune as well.

And the cool part is that DJ's like Laidback Luke, Roger Sanchez, Eric Morillo etc have been playing this track. This is just more proof that internet is helping music and not destroying it.
