What steps do you take. Idea , bass line, beats , snares, melody...what steps and in what order? How loong do you
spend on a track? |

Well, its diffrent everytime...
for me it depends on my mood, sometimes I start with strings, sometimes bassline or even simple beats
it also depends what do you expect from the track... if you want people to dance, chill etc...
Ofcourse that a track must begin with an Idea - the idea combines all the further steps...
the melody can be the highlight of the track witch means it will come in the middle of the track or even at the end OR, you could start up with the melody, give some soul right at the beginning...
Generaly, it changes every time you build a new track...
As for the snares... for me, I put them in when I want to make the crowd more exited (when I produce fast tracks with high BPM)

| the first thing i do is the bassdrum, then hats, then claps and bass then, then synths, then the pads, and anything else from there... then as i am doing it, i use filter sweeps and panning, flanger, filers and all that bollocks....lol |

In my opinion, it's not that good to use always the same order. Just follow your mood, your creativity, your mind at the moment. Only in that way, you can make original, good tracks instead of transparent classical tracks. But one thing is important: if you want your tracks being spinned by a DJ, you have to take in count that it has to be able to be mixed. Example: a track starting with a beat is easier to be mixed then a track starting with only some voices. Anyway, always follow your creativity and fantasy. |
