alright,
so i've been building a decent size vinyl collection lately and its coming time to get some decks. the debate that i'm facing is....
i definitely want direct-drive tables, but should i just get any direct-drive tables...i mean should i get some that are relatively good or do i need to wait until i can get some technics 1200s?? |

Wait a bit and get techs, ORRRRRR, Stanton Str8-100's or Str8-80's which are even cheaper. Good thing about stanton is that they always come up with new stuff so the price on the older stuff goes down big time.
I also heard that the Stantons are more powerful then the SL1200MKII's or any Tech 1200.
That might not be correct though. |

You can never go wrong with Techs! :) But still, I'd wait a tiny bit for the TT-500 reviews, they look very promising. At ~$225 a pop, they seem like a ridiculously good bargain. I've owned the TT-200s and I have to say that they were VERY GOOD decks. The pitch was solid, they were very well built and the torque was very good as well. Numark has been making some pretty good gear. I'm even considering to buy a TT-500 as a 3rd deck. |

i personally prefer the ttx over tecs but thats up to opinion, the tt-200 is prutty good its what i have until i can upgrade, the the stanton str8-60 & 80's are also good and fairly cheap so you might want to look into those (btw all are direct drive) |

check out the stanton st-150 or str8-150. (depending if you want a straight arm or normal s-shaped) these babies are built to last, have great features, and according to many, they are way better than the new technics M5G tables. thats something to think about. the motor is about 3 times stronger, meaning better torque. the wow & flutter are less than 0.1%, and considering that this table has a pitch adjust +/- 50%, thats damn good. i recommend these, and theyre cheaper than the techs. these are more high end though.
the st-100 is damn good too (by stanton). a VERY high quality table, and worth the money. much cheaper than the techs and st-150, but still has a stronger motor than the techs and are very reliable. check out this article too..

on the right column, read the product review. |

If you really want solid tables and are sure you'll be sticking with then I'd go with the TTX1s or the Tech 12s. I decided to go with the TTX1s but I also have a Tech 12 MK2. You can probably get the TTX1s for $350 a peice if you tried. I'd definately stick with buying from a store. Ebay usually isn't worth the few risks (though I did buy my first set of decks from there). |
