Producer: Mark Otten
Title: Tranquility
Label: Armada
Release Date: February '04
Decided to make a thread in the Review Section to get more of the word out!
This tune is hands down the song of the year for 2003. I know the release isn't set for 4 more months, but its already being canned by Armin for over a month now.
This songs starts up with a building, fast, breaky beat. Using some effects in and out, with the flanger, and then breaking down to unleash the main bassline of the song. In and out there are symbols and various sounds, and the beat quite resembles James Holden's "A Break in the Clouds." Around the 2 minute mark, a background melody comes out and its pure dreaming for about 10 seconds. The bass then kicks in again, even harder this time while incorporating a dark FX in the background. Melody comes in around 3:30 giving a feel of Underworld - "Born Slippy" with the echo sounds. For 2 minutes you get pure Trance, at its best, with sounds of the ocean and perfectly placed guitar strumming by this new up and comer and the beat comes back in to finish along with the melody.
Uplifting? Yeah! But uplifting can't describe what you get from this song. So many elements add to quite possibly the best Electronic Dance Music song I've ever heard. This is trance, progressive, breaks...the future perhaps??? Mark Otten, bring it on, and on, and on....
Rating 10000000000000/10!!:eyes:
peace.

Evan Almae already knows how I feel about this one :)
This is one best experienced live, but even in a home listen it's still dazzling. |
