Upham
My favourites (from the seventies to nowadays):

Best goalkeeper: Zoff
Best defenders: Maldini - Beckenbauer
Best midfields: Maradona - Cruyff
Best forwards: Romario - Müller
jploveparade
Van Nistelrooij

At least he will be in 10 years ;)
Big Lil
list could go on n on, but some players that stick out r the Dutch legands: Van Basten, Gullit, Cryuff n then u got others like Best, Pele, Maradona, Beckenbauer

imo i think its impossible to compare footballers now to what it was in the past, so much has changes, no more drinkin for professional footballers, fitness levels r beyond belief to what they were before. Players that stood out in their day r legendary players, eg Zidane today n whoever
Hequn
u lot know nothing :p

David Eyres, Oldham athletic midfielder (near manchester  ) who is knocking 40 and still one of the fastest and most leathl players in Div 2

you find a team in the past 2 years thats beaten celtic at home in a european clash (without the tie already being won in the 1st leg?!

and as henrik has proved on numerous occasions he is a quality striker, cos he plays in scotland doesnt mean hes not good!

yes the scottish league is but

he scored 2 goals in the uefa cup final

scored against liverpool and blackburn (both TOP premiership teams! and both times celtic were expected to lose!)

i do also believe henrik has surpassed the brittish scoring record in europe! has he not?!

wasnt he also the winner of europes golden boot a year or 2 ago?!

get your head out your arse and give credit where its due!

lol, does that make him a legend, hell no

4 times a year he plays against a good team in your competetion, which is Glasgow. The other 32 matches are against crappy teams, so I think it is pretty normal that he scores a lot in the competition.

That he scores against Liverpool and Blackburn is a rather stupid comment, when a striker scores against a team which is supposed to be better then his own team it just doesn't make him a great player.

You are a great player when you have great achievements in Europe, that means in different competions in Europe (or elsewhere) and in the European league. but you also have to accomplish things with your country, and tell me, what did Sweden achieve the last few years with Henrik Larsson?

not much

conclusion: Henrik Larsson is a good striker, but he will never belong to the greatest of all times

The players that we call legends have achieved great things internationally (with their country) and also with their club

Maradona, Cruyff, van Basten, Gullit etc...

not quite always

george best? beckham? raul? giggs?

not all have won major major honours with their country, but you tell the people at club level that they are not legends!

im sure theyll happily disagree with you

Apart from all the obvious choices I can't argue with Alan Shearer, he's gonna be remembered for ever.

What about Dixie Dean? - 60 goals in one season suggests to me he was pretty good, even though I've seen no hard evidence...
