Interesting nite ..

Place was pretty busy when I got there with John and Ariel. Got a chance to walk around and find all the TA's before Frog got on. Luke Fair played a great warmup set. Frog's set was definately different. Not exactly my cup of tea, but it did hav its unique moments with the LP and vocals that he threw in there, as well as the Duran Duran remix, right Nat ? ;)

Nice seeing everyone too. (John, Ariel, Nat, Graham, Dallas, Margs, Jeff, Tommy, Jeff II, Jarek, Jason, Jason II, LKD, Az, Steve, Silke, Aaron, Igor, CrazedCanuck, Monish, Ben, Fuad, ryanparks and partyprincess) Shouts also go out to Mute for the wickid set that packed the VIP room towards the end of the night and refused people to leave .. hope u liked the leftover eggroll! :D

Anyhow, on a sad note John left my jacket behind the couch near the DJ booth of the VIP room. We tried looking for it before leaving Systems but it wasn't there anymore. If any of you guys happen to hear it turning up, it's a black windbreaker with a hood.

Anyways, overall it was an okay nite. But coming off Steve Porter and TA Invasion 04 there, I can't say it was "up there" for my list of nights at System. Hopefully BT will make up for that .. :D

ps. Nat PLZ. upload ur pics to Beh before heading to DC .. ;)

Wow! I didn't expect him to play that long! Even tho I need to do a million things b4 my 9-10 hr drive to DC today, I stayed til the end. It was brutal waking up today. And the last thing I need to do is sit on the 'puter to write some review. ;)

GREAT show of TA's in attendance, especially since John '00' was around the corner. Luke Fair played a great opening set. Threw down some nice tracks in there. Then, the Frog leaped on the decks! The yell we gave each other when he saw me there up front... Woo hoo! It was well worth the very long wait to bring him here. (Thanks again, System Soundbar!) Haven't seen him since Miami in March. 4+ hrs of his trademark froggy sound. I hate to say so, but soooo many of the good tracks were dropped after u left, Jarek. :( I did get your froggy signed 4 u, tho. Between your frog sign, Rob's Kermit puppet, and my frog costume & rotating wardrobe of shirts, we showed him some serious love. (apparently, no other city has done that sorta stuff for him- kinda weird, cuz it's SO obvious!) Ah, it was so much fun hopping around in the frog outfit!
So many good tracks with guitar & bass riffs. 2 different mixes of "Music Revolution"!! "My Time" by his alias Dutch feat. Crystal Waters on vocals, "The Switch"- Planet Funk, "Stand"-Jewel, "Stoned"- Dido, that Duran Duran remix, and so many more familiar tracks. Every time he dropped a song he knew I would know, he looked at me, and it was like "Oh, yeah!" Would've loved it if he closed out the nite w/ his remix of "Days go By" to wind things down, but oh well! Some tracks were SO killer- and they were all stuff that he remixed or produced. The drum machine and microphone crowd interaction were amazing!!! For the 1st time in Toronto, he said it was great (tho he'll prepare a better sound check next time- he would've liked the sound to be better on the floor).
Let's bring him back soon!!!!!!!

I just woke up and I'm still cracked out! I think I can honestly say that this was the best party I've been to at System, (and Ii've been to a bunch!) I'm kinda sprisedd actually that the reviews aren't any better. My friend got sick around 4 so I had to take her home, so I didn't get to hear the rest of his set. How did he do those vocals?? Did he have a voice synthesizer or changer up there? FUKK, song after song, I was in bliss!

So, all in all pretty good. I was still on a high from Ken Ishii the night before, so I wasn't expecting to be blown away, and picking a prog DJ over John '00 was a leap of faith for me, but I'm glad I did it.

Luke Fair actually spun a damn good opening set, and I recognized one of his tracks from Mike's demo (forget the name though :p). Scumfrog's track selection was really awesome - I can't say that I recognized any of them, but a very bangin' set indeed, actually made me want to dance instead of sleep. :p

And for anyone who thinks this is a mediocre review, I usually never have anything good to say about prog DJs. :p So really, great set from the 'frog.

On an aside, I was *NOT* happy with the politics at the door... I hope you tear 'em a new , John.

He's not a prog DJ! He spins UK House eh?? I think he'd bite your head of if you told him that. I managed to sneak past the bouncer for a few seconds and have a quick chat! Any girlios with a Dutch Fetish? (Puts up her hand)

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the Dutch!!!
Best country to party in, best people to party with, best parties in the world!!!!

And while maybe the reviews may not seem 'through the roof' here, keep in mind that some of us are still recovering from the double header at the Guv last weekend, Ken Ishii the nite b4, and a basic uncertainty of most people here of what Scumfrog was gonna play. I suspect it might've been 'too housey' for some. As far as house goes, this is my cup of tea, all the way!
