I love the Yankees, but I wouldnt care if they lost this year, or next, or the one after that, or the one after that - The only reason why I would want them to win is to keep Joe Torre as manager, but I think they need a new pitching coach and scout. The Yanks need to go on a WS drought for a few years, it will make winning it again sweet.

i wish there were more yankee fans like you out there. it is true in any sport, winning isnt as special if it happens all the time.
i'll never forget what wade boggs said in 1996 after the yankees won that year. he said that all he had wanted to do since losing to the mets in 1986 was win the world series for his mom who passed away that year. he said that right after he finally won in 96 he looked up to the sky and saw his mom looking down on him. of course he said all this choked up with emotion in the locker room.
somehow i dont see winning meaning this much to jeter, or anyone else that has experienced it on such a frequent basis. jeter goes and cries about not winning the world series for 2 years (2001, 2002) after winning 4 out of 5 years to begin his career with the yankees. it's bull like that that makes me hate the yankees.
yankee fans dont see that there is a logical reason behind the hate that many have for their team. i give you a lot of credit for being albe to truly understand how special it is to see your team win. |
