What are the best songs to start a trance mix? In other words, which preferably new trax have a cool biggining - not just beats right away.

theres no "right" song to start off with. I guess it all depends on your style really.. and also if ur DJing in clubs or your own bedroom.
In a club u want something to build and layer. in ur own bedroom it doesnt really matter i guess.
Whatever music style (i.e. hard trance, prog, hard house.. etc)
Sometimes i like starting off with an old track and closing with an old track.
Just be yourself and try to come up with your own set |

| it largelly depends on how you want to progress your set, ie where you want to begin and where you want to end up. I will often begin a set with some darker progressive and end with either breaks or uplifting. However I also think it is important to find a track with a nice opening and not just a beat. A few good examples of such tracks are Aria - dido (Armin Van Buurens Universal Religion remix), Alibi - eternity (innercity mix) and Plastic Angel - Heaven and hell. |
