There's a very nice ripping program called Exactaudiocopy.
It has an option for making just .cue without extraction.
Get it here: exactaudiocopy.de |

I'll tell you everything you need to know about LAME and how to rip your perfect CD with EAC (Exact Audio Copy).
Install it (i think you know how to do that).
Then go here and here and download LAME. This is the program that will encode the audio file you will extract with EAC to MP3.
Then put the progrma (.exe) and DLL (.dll) in the same directory as your EAC program.
Then run EAC and go to EAC -> Compression options. Then go to External compression and check 'Use external program for compression'.
Then browse for the LAME.exe program in the box just under this.
Don't type anything in the box below (additional command line).
Then choose 192kbps as Quality. (the lower the kbps, the poorer the quality. to answer your question about kbps)
Then go to EAC -> EAC Options. In extraction check the three first boxes only. And in the white rectangle (Error Recovery quality) choose High.
In general, check these boxes : the 2nd, the 4th, the 5th and the 6th.
In Normalize, don't check anything. If something is checked, uncheck it.
In Filename, don't do anything. SHould be ok.
Press OK. And restart EAC.
Now go to EAC -> Drive Option. In extraction mode, click on the thrid option in 'Secure mode'. Make sure nothign else is chosen from there.
In Offset/Speed set 0 to sample ofset. Don't check the box under this.
In Speed selection, choose 'Actual'. And check the box under it.
Press OK and restart EAC.
Then stick in the cd and choose create image and cue sheet under action.
