spanish being my native language, i pronounce it
ZA-BEE-EH-LA

but pete tong says something to the extent of ZA-BEE-LEE-AH
on radio 1 for the essential mix, so who knows.

and zabiela is from UK as far as i know (i think i read it somewhere
and he had a british accent when i talked to him when he spun here.)

who's that moron? reggaeton comes from dancehall reggae and hip hop, it doesn't have ANYTHING to do with house or pop.

nope - NONE of you were right.... and won't be... russians could pronounce it just right! as zabiela is very common nick in lithuania for ppl of russian nationality (trust me, it has nothing to do with djing nor music), it's very easy to say "zabiela" for me... but as far as i communicated with english speaking ppl, i know very well that 2 "things" they CAN't pronounce are: latin letter "R" (it's so damn easy) and "ie" (NONE english-speaking person will pronounce it right!)

Don't look for Pete Tong for proper pronunciation, he spent an entire 2 hour essential mix trying to figure out how to pronounce "Columbiahalle" during the Love From Above 2002. Can't blame him though, he never had the good fortune of being born in germany;)

Anyways, why doesn't somebody grab a hold of him (Zabiela) sometime after a gig and during an interview ask the man himself?

hmm i was just listening th Network 25 - Por La Bateria

The vocals sound so much like this topic. So i just tag along "Porlarrr Bateeliaaa!!"
