Agree, I don't like them, too.

i use to be like that...
but ever since i heard progressive live under the roof of twilo...it was like a whole new world after that...i think it was the phazon system that blew me away with the deep progressive sounds.. |

You're not wrong about progressive house, it is definitely harder to listen to because of it's monotony, but epic trance and progressive trance will definitely lose it's appeal to you eventually, you'll want something slower, deeper. Something that allows dj's to be very creative, and not have to rely on a few killer tunes in their set to be classified as good. Progressive house dj's like fontaine(although he ain't that good, tenaglia and digweed are the MASTERS) don't rely on tracks, they rely on their skill more in ordering tracks and creating a tone, a mood to their sets. Most of the time, there is nothing special about the actual tracks in their sets, you have to step back and look at the mix as a whole to understand why people dig this style so much, give it a shot, you might be surprised. :) |

Agreed... Progressive House is VERY boring, especially at parties. Same with Deep House. I live in Victoria, BC, Canada and we get A LOT of Progressive House in rave scene here and not enough Progressive/Uplifting/Epic Trance. The thing is most people don't realize it's Progressive House, they think it's Trance, so they get the wrong impression of what REAL trance is all about. I find myself doing A LOT of explaining to people that what they consider to be "boring trance" is almost always actually "progressive house".
What I've really been getting into lately is techno influenced styles, like Tech-Trance and Tech-House.

Thats interesting that you should mention John Digweed. He Dj'd at the Shadow Lounge in Miami a few weeks back and the crowd tore into the management on the message board for bringing that style of music there. George Acosta is the #1 DJ there and he plays mostly hard bangin' trance. Can you imagine that contrast. I have listened to Jeremy Bonham's music which is progressive, and it does all sound the same. You have to force yourself to listen to it. |

The first time I went to a Trance club I didn't know there were different types and I think I went to a club that played progressive house that night. I was so bored I left early and wondered for a long time what all the hype was about....I prefer the good upbeat Trance music like flight 643 or Sandstorm or Cosmic Gate. Something like that type of music.:D |

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!
Deep house is wicked depending on when you use it! Just like how Donald Glaude will throw a few breaks tracks in his house sets to keep it fresh. |

| i'm not a big house fan, but i have to disagree with whoever said seb fontaine isn't that good. he's a wicked dj, ive seen'm live and he tore the roof off. i will admit that his last album, prototype 4 was a bit boring, but his first 3 were really good:p |

I agree.. I hate when people consider house and trance the same thing, and think trance sucks because house sucks...
House is ok for a little while, and is definately great when mixed in between some trance (as trance has a lot of house in it, in my opinion)... |

I meant he's a good trance dj, but not that great of a progressive house dj, since he jumped on the progressive bandwagon...his older stuff is pretty good. |
