hi there!
i'm new to this forum (but not that new to electronical music), and the intention of my first post is to get some ideas on how to organize my music collection, ie how to clean up the mess :) and i do it by asking you: how do you keep ogranized your own music collection? it's just "good-stuff-ontheright-bad-stuff-ontheleft" or do you sort things by music genre (and if so, what definitions do you use, ie just "trance-stuff" or "house-stuff", some kind of official definitions or your own definitions?
thanks in advance! |

| I have organized my collection firstly by genre (Trance,Progressive,House(although progressive belongs to house),goa-psy etc) and secondly by artist....but the problem is that sometimes a remix of a track that is originally trance may be progressive....there's a bit messed up.... |

| Well, I'm sorting by alphabetical. As much as genre sorting can make things easier, it makes it 3 times as hard. Alphabetical is fine as long as you know what you're looking for, and your collection isn't gigantic. |

Folder: Livesets
Subfolders: DJ's Names (Paul van Dyk, James Zabiela, etc)
Folder: Singles
Subfolders: A-M, N -Z (etc)
I tried to arrange by genre but that gets too annoying. Hope ths helps! |

I'll organize by genre (Chill, Trance, Progressive, Hardtrance, Hardtstyle. Further I have 3 special folders for Cosmic Gate, Dumonde and Airbase and one folder with the best tracks of 2003 so far. Works pretty well for me.
And livesets in a different folder, with a subfolder for ASOT's |
