If I had to pick 1 group to get rid of, it would have to be destiny's child. I'll still play it tho.

well i still think sandstorm is a nice tune. the track going commercial didn't take away of what i think of the tune itself. i don't know i'm walking on thin ice now so i'll stop but thats what i feel about it.

ya man, that's true. I DJ highschool dances, so I have to play that stuff all the time. I've trained myself not to hate anything or I couldn't do the job.

maybe you should revolutionize high school dances by throwing something hard and uplifting at them :D

something like tiesto at energy or tiesto at innercity.....

I usually get a awesome response when I put on some trance. We do video dance so we d/l a bunch of sweet trance videos from the net, but I can only usually play a 3 song set before, the britney backstreet crowd complains. But you want to know what is the most popular music by far. Gangsta rap , even at junior highs

hehe how do you put a bit of commercial stuff, trance, pop and gangsta rap all together in one mix?? you must be quite a DJ. :D

My problem with commercial music is that, like someone said earlier, is most of the time, not artistic expression, but a marketing gimmick made to appeal to the masses and make people rich.

I don't care for alice deejay, but that has nothing to do with the commerciality of the music, but rather the fact that the music is simple, annoying, and quite damaging to the integrity of the genre if that's what people call trance.

I enjoy artistic music, whatever the genre, if it's commercial so be it.

I think alot of the time people slag off commercial music because they feel they are part of some unique culture by listening to a type of music...in this case we are talking about trance. Therefore, if someone who is completely not into trance digs a trance (I use the word loosely) tune, then they feel cheated, they are no longer the only ones who know about it. It's a human condition to want to feel that we are unique and special people, when someone or something tries to take that away, we tend to get a little pissed off.

All Trance is commercial now-a-days...

well, I do like some of the commercial trance tunes, like, Ascension - someone ( thrillseekers remix ) , Castles in the sky, Kay Cee , and so on .. I like this songs alot, and not because it starts getting played on the radio, doesnt mean that I dont like it .. but .. some radio stations will KILL the song for playing it every 5 mins or so .. thats why I try to avoid radio stations, that may be the case over seas like in the UK on the bbc radio 1, they get kill pretty bad, here in the states, trance songs dont get that much played like every 5 mins or so .but they do get played pretty often ...

i don't really care if a song is commercial or not. if i like it, i like it. but i'll agree that as soon as songs get played 50 times a day on the radio i quickly start to hate it(ie. sandstorm: cool song, but soooooooooooo played-out)

that's so true, dunno about you guy's but i went through that phase a few years back basicly it really pissed me off when trance went really commercially big in the UK in particular around the ATB - 9 pm sort of time, i'd kinda wanted it to suddenly explode and everyone to realise that they had this deep inbuilt need and desire to hear trance all the time just like i did, but it exploded in a different way, and so i felt kinda annoyed, not because too many people liked trance, but because they didn't really LIKE it, it just happened to be the way that the flow went, and so that's the way they went too.
