Oyster Bay Building Fire (10/25/03 2AM-7/8AM)

Yup folks... This was THE big one that nearly all of Nassau county fire departments were asked to mutual aid. In the early hours of the morning, one of the oldest buildings in whatever town we were in caught on fire. Oyster Bay requested mutual aid from my company about an hour after the fire broke out. Thankfully, Friday nights are standby at the firehouse, for me, so I was ready to jump on. What sucks is the fact that most of the fire departments members weren't around since they went to a special weekend (Clearing House) of "training" in Westchester county. Sooo... We were ALL low on man power (Only 4 guys from my department went, me being one of them). The thing was a cluster , when we got there. Stupid fire kept reigniting later on... Oh well. One of the other volunteer's in my company took pictures of the fire with his disposable camera so I should have them online as soon as they're developed.

So... Anyone hear about this?

The bastard kept reigniting. Apparently, the old building was quite sturdy to withstand gallons upon gallons of high psi water. Only people with tower ladder trucks were asked to mutual aid. No real interior firefighting was done (Other than the runthrough, at the start, for people and valuables).
