| nice. congrates on your first gig and your first residency. i remember my first club gig. it was cool. now my first headline spot at a club. now that was ing wicked. 6 times the normal number of people playing at one of the top ten clubs in the country. it was the best feeling in the world. standing in the booth playing on the same decks as the biggest jocks in the world with the entire club under my control. it's pretty damn addictive. |

Congrats mate
The buzz never dies....
I play to 1700 people every saturday and up to 1100 three other nights a week and the buzz i still get whenever i play is incredible....
Doesnt matter how many people are in the club though or the size of the club- if they enjoy it the energy and atmosphere will be good regardless of size
The feeling when the crowd digs what you are playing is awesome

it's very addictive. the only problem is that when you do it for long enough you'll of course have "off" nights or nights when the crowd just isn't full of energy and then it can be a lot like work! most of the time though, it's the dog's bolox. |

Sweet!
There's nothing more exciting than playing live, 'cuz you control the crowd. There's not another feeling like it.
My first residency had its ups and downs. What can a trance-breaks DJ do with a hip-hop crowd?
Keep it up, 'cuz it will only get better. |

'Grats!
Looks like my first live gig is slated for early January '04. I've been spinning for about 9 months now, so I'll be practicing my ass off leading up to it. |

It was a new "ASIAN" club and the owners were trying to attract newcomers. Opening night, I was expecting a good crowd ready for some progressive and hard trance sets, but instead it was a hip-hop crowd with a few trance-addicts here and there.
What I hated about the experience was that the owners and some of the so-called "ravers" were clueless. They thought I was a DJ who played the stuff called "cheese." When they heard my opening set, they asked me why I wasn't playing trance. I was like WTF? This is trance. What's worst was when the times when I was in the middle of my sets and some Asian girls would want to "request" a song. I ignored them, 'cuz damn I'm working here; I'm in the middle of a set for crying outloud! Eventually, the owners got in my face and told me that I should cater to requests. It was all good, 'cuz I spun vinyl and most of the cheese they requested were on CD so I just laughed my @$$ off.
"Sorry, I don't have it."
I hate this stereotype about Asian DJs, 'cuz everyone thinks that we play cheese. And I can't blame you guys, 'cuz everywhere you go, it's cheesy trance and cheesy breaks spun by none other than Asian DJs. Just to make it clear, I'm Asian and I don't play cheese. Not all Asian DJs play cheese.
Eventually, the owners set one night a week where I could thump a progressive & hard trance set and my partner in crime could thump her funky breaks set for a good 4OUR hours. This only lasted for roughly 6IX months and I decided that it was time to move on. I'm glad I'm not there anymore. Turns out that after my partner and I left, it pretty much became a top 40 and hip-hop club featuring CD-DJs (I'm not rippin' on CD-DJs here) who couldn't beatmatch if their life counted on it.
I got the hours under my belt and that's what pretty much counts.
