Song suggestion??

Im doing a project for an AP english class and we are supposed to write a response to Sullivan Ballou's letter :
"July 14,1861
Camp Clark, Washington DC

Dear Sarah:

The indications are very strong that we shall move in a few days - perhaps tomorrow. And lest I should not be able to write you again I feel impelled to write a few lines that may fall under your eye when I am no more.

I have no misgivings about, or lack of confidence in the cause in which I am engaged, and my courage does not halt or falter. I know how American Civilization now leans upon the triumph of the government and how great a debt we owe to those who went before us through the blood and suffering of the Revolution. And I am willing - perfectly willing - to lay down all my joys in this life, to help maintain this government, and to pay that debt.

Sarah, my love for you is deathless, it seems to bind me with mighty cables that nothing but omnipotence can break; and yet my love of Country comes over me like a strong wind and bears me irresistibly with all those chains to the battlefield. The memory of all the blissful moments I have enjoyed with you come crowding over me, and I feel most deeply grateful to God and you, that I have enjoyed them for so long. And how hard it is for me to give them up and burn to ashes the hopes and future years, when, God willing, we might still have lived and loved together, and see our boys grown up to honorable manhood around us.

If I do not return, my dear Sarah, never forget how much I loved you, nor that when my last breath escapes me on the battle field, it will whisper your name...

Forgive my many faults, and the many pains I have caused you. How thoughtless, how foolish I have sometimes been!...

But, 0 Sarah, if the dead can come back to this earth and flit unseen around those they love, I shall always be with you, in the brightest day and in the darkest night... always, always. And when the soft breeze fans your cheek, it shall be my breath, or the cool air your throbbing temple, it shall be my spirit passing by.

Sarah do not mourn me dead; think I am gone and wait for me, for we shall meet again... "

and theres a song called "Ashokan Farewell" that goes with it. Im supposed to find a song to play when I read my response back to the class. Im wondering if you guys have any suggestions for an electronica song that has similar feelings and tone as Ashokan Farewell. Any input would be appreciated! :D

Thanatos
(Lyrics:)
code:
Now its time, I fear to tell I've been holding it back so long But something strange deep inside of me is happening I feel unlike I've ever felt And its making me scared That I may not be what I (think I am) What of us, what do I say Are we both from a different world Cos every breath that I take, I breathe it for you I couldn't face my life without you And I'm so afraid. There's nothing to comfort us What am I, if I can't be yours I don't sleep, don't feel a thing And my senses have all but gone Can't even cry from the pain, can't shed a tear now I realise We're not the same and it's making me sad Cos we can't fufill our dreams (in the life) So I must, let us break free I can never be what you need If there was a way, through the hurt then I would fint it I'd take the blows. Yes I would fight it But this is the one. Impossible dream to love What am I, if I can't be yours.

Sounds kinda jazzy

Thanks for the responses so far. Mezzir, really nice song but I dont really think it fits the mood. :toothless I had an mp3 of the letter and song but I uploaded it on geocities and now its gone. :o I guess I can make a new geocities account and upload it again. Moncster, those are really nice lyrics. Fits the letter very well, but the jazzy nature doesnt really sound right. Im not trying to be rude or anything.:disbelief Well any more suggestions would be welcomed. thnx
moncster
No no, jazzy as in "like jazz", the genre , not "showy" or "flashy" :toothless

Short sample here

hm k yeah i read it again, was in the middle of homework the first time so i didn't think it thru real well
i guess the part i'm unsure of is the mood you want for the song
like is the overall mood uplifting, since the whole 'i'm with you always in spirit' deal, or sad and mournful, since the guys gonna die
so....here's what i could find that might work
gouryella - walhalla (armin van buuren's rising star mix) - it has some ethereal sense to it, esp. in the beginning, yet still the uplifting main melody.
hm...just noticed that you said electronica in general, not just trance
that might help
lsse....
OOOH!!!
enigma - age of loneliness - just listened to this...the female vocals in the song practically ask for you to use it....ah its good
so yeah, check that

i'm also thinking something by DJ Shadow could work, maybe Midnight in a Perfect World

other possibilities that i'm not gonna explain just cus
Nine Inch Nails - La Mer
RJD2 - Here's What's Left
Sigur Ros - Njosnavelin

hope this helped!

Moncster, I know :toothless I already got it from the hub. And I dont really think vocals would be appropriate for something like this. Ill try to upload the Ashoken Farewell tommorow and you can kinda see what the tone is and stuff. :p
BLuEOcEaN420
*James Holden - Horizon (Way Out West Mix)
*Coldcut - Autumn Leaves

:conf: :conf: :conf:

Enya - Anywhere is

lux - northern lights

it's off of a cafe del mar compilation volumen siete i believe

this song i think would match well with your speech.
