Does my CD player suck?

Ok, so heres the problem I'm having...
I have a Gemini CD-340
I'll match the beat on the cue track at say +2.1% however, after a bit the track seems to fall behind slightly, whereas at +2.2% it will get ahead slightly, its often a good 30s before its noticeable so this is just forcing me to make quicker transitions than i'd like so as to not have an audible speed ajustment in my mix.
Now there seems to be some play in the slider between 2 tenths, does anyone know if using this play would be equlivelant to setting it at +2.15% or does the digital display show what speed its "locked on"
Just wondering if my cd player sucks, or this is a problem eveyone has to deal with mixing cds, or maybe my skillz are still rusty (up until recently i had not mixed in over a year).

hmm dunno if it sucks but if record A is like 160 bpm and b is like 120 bpm ( i know a bit insane ) it's pretty normal that the run out you have to play with the pitch at least that is what i do

what your saying is +2.1 is just abit too slow, +2.2 is just a bit too fast..... +2.15 would be perfect? welcome to the world of digital pitch adjustment. its not your cd players fault, thats the price you have to pay for playing cds. mine do the same thing. i've found that just a couple of quick taps on the pitch bend buttons before the songs get to messed up isnt noticable. i think you just have to make sure that you fix the incoming track before it gets too far off.

you know what.. i've never used the pitch bend buttons, i've just always used the dial to adjust. maybe the buttons are less noticeable, i'll have to give that a try, thanks!

Yes, digital pitch adjustment will operate on 0.1% increments most of the time (except for the CDJ1000, which uses 0.02% increments, I think this is the only exception in the CD turntable market?).

Use your jog wheel or pitch bend buttons and you'll be fine. You can barely hear it if you do it right.

i cannot imagine to mix without pitch bend...impossible :)
