Sandra Collins @ Cubik REVIEW

First and foremost, big apology to Jose cuz i was suppose to scoop him up if I went, but I didnt cuz we found out that we could go at the very last minute. But dont worry Jose, you didnt miss much cuz I got there @ 12am and i had to leave @ 2:30 am. Im really tryin to limit myself 1 night of stayin out to 6 am in a week and i already spent that earlier in the week :)

So here's my review of my night:

Its been a LONG time since Ive been back to Nation. . .like. . . FORGOT HOW TO GET THERE long time. But when I got there with Josy, i suddenly remembered how awful parking is. . . not so much that there isn't enough parking, but the fact that youre just afraid to park along side the road. . . .well i was afraid, so we parked in the lot :nervous:

We got into the club and since they changed the name to Cubik, I thought that it would be at least nicer than Buzz was. . . .i thought wrong. Honestly, i thought the place was almost as dirty as Glow. Music wasn't all there for me. . . maybe since it was Halloween and the djs had to play some weird goth music. The decor inside was cheap, but i guess if they bring in good talent, that doesnt matter right? Oh yea, the one bartender there was a in idiot. I ordered a red headed slut and asked me if i wanted it as a drink or as a shot so i said DRINK, and he thought i was speakin chinese to him cuz he got an attitude with me and made it as a shot. Done venting. . . .

By 1:30, Sandra Collins came on and at least for the 1st hour I saw her play, she was TEARIN IT UP!! Its so refreshing to listen to somone and not be able to ID every other tune. I was goin buck wild on the dance floor then all of a sudden i saw that it was 2 am and if I dont get outta there, ill never get out so a certain someone convinced me to stay 10 more minutes and so I agreed . . . .which ended up being 30 minutes but thats ok :)

Overall, Nation just doesnt feel the same anymore. I feel like a lot of the ppl that go there now are just ppl that are tryin to bring back wat Buzz was like but was too young to even experience Buzz back then. I think it might've been because not a lot of ppl dance there. Seemed like a lot of ppl socialize or just go there to be seen. You could really tell all the OLD Buzz heads cuz they all dress mature now but still dance like it was 1999. HAAAAAAA. Anyway, I also felt kinda old there too. . . .i dont even wanna think about all the ppl aged 24 and up  (HAAAAAAA inside joke).

So even though I only got to chill for 2.5 hours, I had a grrrrreat night and I really wish I couldve stayed longer but life isnt always fair is it?

word of the night: SHOCKED!!! :eyes: :D ;) :toothless

Dude Nation is in the Ghetto and I remember it always being kinda dirty so that really shouldn't come as a surprise. I thought the vibe and people were awesome. It was a lot of fun, people were dancing a hell of a lot more than at Glow, and it was PACKED! Personally I thought the music lacked. Sandra was all over the place with her selection. She didn't start getting any good until an hour and a half into her set. By then I was fed up so I left. Buzz was awesome the music wasn't. But thats ok, I'll keep goin back if its gonna have tons of cool peeps.

The goth music had nothing to do with it being Halloween. Alchemy (Nation's Thursday night party) booked Nation for Halloween long before Buzz returned to Nation. Alchemy was generous enough to let Buzz share Nation on Halloween. Some of the djs you heard were regular Alchemy djs, that is why some of the music was industrial/goth.

It was definitely an odd mixture and yes, it didn't feel like Buzz. I had a great time though. K-Swing was awesome but Sandra Collins disappointed me again.

Sorry you had such a bad time!

Actually I would like to step up to the Microphone at the moment and point out that those under the age of 23 fit in with all the tiny boppers hopping around there!!

Nations that night was called SPOOKY.. it was the combination of Alchemy and CuBIK put together for halloween. My neighbor went to visit and BIG THANKS TO HER for getting us on the free guestlist!! Cuz i was BROKE!!.. She gripped about how bad the setup was.. she said the biggest problem there is.. they didn't let the Alchemy lineup play the time that they were supposed to and they killed have the acts at the last minute.. .. although i don't like the Gothic crap.. i can see how frustrating that is to come see someone you've paid to see and then they not play because a DJ is supposed to get a certian amount of time.. fact is.. they overbooked and they weren't prepared like the should have been. .. Also i was informed the decorations were literally done about 20min before doors opening except for the big stuff.. just poor organization..

I was there till almost close.. and well at first we were kinda room hopping.. got to see a bunch of BUZZ friends and just plain woderful.. i love you all since highschool, and see you all the time friends.. HAHAHA!! HUGE Shoutouts to Dave S. and Ben N Mo crew (Dave, Donna and John - OH MY GOD YOU CUT YOUR HAIR!!).. and cookie:: man I was on the drum and bass floor for quite a bit dancing with you so you can't say i have no love for ya!! Ting was tearing it up.. and Chico IS MY DANCING GOD!!.. give it up for DCSkillz!!

As for the DJ.. she had some issues towards the end.. we don't know what the F she was doing.. but ummmm??!!! we left and headed back to the drum and bass floor!.. cuz that was some LOUSY!!!! spinnin... I kid you not.. everyone on the dance floor stopped and looked up at her like WTF?!!

Truthfully i flat out had issues settling that night.. couldn't get into the groove... then lost my DORKFACE!!.. had fun dancing with BZY.. then broke it down with some friends...

..looking forward to this Friday.. LAST NIGHT BEFORE SEATTLE>> so cubik desided to make it good and invite Crystal Method
