| Is this the disease shown on "Ripleys Believe It Or Not"?, on there is showed someones leg beat eaten away by some kind of bacteria or something...he banged his knee against something accidently and i guess it started the disease again...i dunno...when i saw that episode i was frightened...especially hitting my knee against anything. |

it's just me so far! i don't know what the hell is wrong with me this year, i have gotten alot of infections, a really bad viral infection that took 3 months to get over was probably the worst. I also found out last week that i am now lactose intolerant which is also odd for my family. I am also partially colour blind which DOES run in our family but is very rare in women. Maybe my body just hates me this year?:whip: |
And I thought I was screwed up because I had 2 colds in the last 3 months...
My first guess would be that you have aids, but since you said you'll wait with sex untill marriage, then I guess that is out of the picture :)
But seriously, maybe your immune system is weakened for some reason. Or you had very bad luck this year.. It also may be that the bacteria which cause the flesh eating disease weren't completely destroyed the first time you had it treated, so that they have spread again. |

Yipes. Jim Henson (creator of the muppets) also died of a flesh-eating bacteria.

anyway, a staph skin infection? that is very rary. staph normally attacks your throat and leads to a strep throat.
you said you were having quite a few health problems lately? you could have a very low white blood cell count. i would get a blood test done right away and have them check your levels. |
Also getting an HIV test is probably wise.
Have you ever had a blood transfusion, or anything else that could have put you at risk for HIV contraction? Have you ever shared razors with anyone etc? |

| well out of concern for my health i had some blood work done a few weeks ago and they said everything checked out fine. So i don't have HIV. I haven't had any blood transfusions anyway or shared razors, so i think i am safe. I don't know about the guiness records show, that really sucks if that guy got such an infection by hitting it against a wall! I've taken a few anti-biiotics since last night and the swelling and redness has gone down but the lumps are still hard and tender. Yuck. You guys probably don't want to know this. and no pics or stfu! |

Actually, i found out recently that i am also lactose intolerant. i asked my allergist about it and she said that sometimes being on a lot of antibiotics can sometimes mess with the bacteria in your stomach and intestines to cause lactose intolerance. you can get some over the counter stuff to counterract this, i forget what it's called but just go ask your phamacist they should know. |

dude... i swear to god, that gives me a motivation to trace your timezone, come to canada, and kick your ass! :D:D
wienerschnitzel, it's not incredibly uncommon, but doctors try to keep this stuff contained. back in high school there were several cases in a nearby town that got everyone concerned about it... sorry to hear you have it, it's very unpleasant |

that is incredibly interesting! i will mention that to my doctor because i have been on some crazy anti-biotics all year and so that could explain why! |

i'd tell them to test you again and check your white blood cell count.
i doubt they checked you for HIV. the most commenly used test for that takes a while to go thru.
but i dunno.
two summers ago i got really sick during the summer with mono. i had been out of town partying for 2 weeks strait. no sleep, drank pretty much the entire two weeks. came home and had my wisdom teeth pulled. then i was on antibiotics to prevent any bacterial infections along with the pain killers. i got incredibly sick and we changed antibiotics. i then came down with this horrible rash all over my body. i went to see the doctor, we did some blood tests and i got diagnosed with mono and the rash was a bad reaction from the antibiotics. for two weeks i was in bed. and i almost missed my trip to greece at the end of the summer.
about 6 months later at school, i had a relapse of the mono. i never felt sicker my entire life. for two weeks i didn't even have the energy to get out of bed. it was really really bad.
had tests done then and it took about 4 weeks for my white blood cell count to return to a normal level. i was freaking out i had HIV :)
but the likely hood of that is low. get more tests done. its not normal to get an infection like that, especially if your the only one that has it and haven't been any strange places. get a full workup of your blood done. and try to determine how you picked up whatevr you have.
oh and post pics!! :p
good luck |
