well progressive house is mostly compared to tribal techno nowadays. it's full of hard, dark and repetative beats... some time ago, "Brooklyn Bounce" braged of playing progressive house, but that is just BULL!!! CLICK HERE if you want to get acquainted with one of the best german tribal/progressive techno dj's YULIA NAU!
and i don't really know anything about progressive trance (i don't listen to trance anymore).;) |

| It really does not matter much the difference since the songs sound so familiar in style. However, you may be able to split them based on who produced the tune. (i.e. Deep Dish tend to produce mainly prog hosue). |

well, seriously, if ya ask me that question, i can't give you a direct answer.
Since most of electronica music start with house. Progressive house to me is like a little bit of tech-house and a little of deep house.
some good examples are:
TimO Maas. (well he do hardhouse and hardtrance too)
Deep Dish. (some UK Garage....)
Way Out West. (his 1994 remix of Subliminal Cuts' Le Voie Le Soleil sounds awesome..) |

| Well see now Ive always understood progressive house to be stuff like Yomanda, like pure garbage stuff and Ive always understood prog trance to be Deep Dish, Digweed, Sasha that kinda stuff. |

Oh no, not again.
You can learn all about progressive trance in this thread: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=137340
I'm less of an authority on progressive house, but it encompasses Sander K, Digweed, Sasha (most of the time), Dave Seaman, Deep Dish, etc. |

Progressive house:
Behrouz
Chus & Ceballos
Hydrogen Rockers
John Creamer & Stephane K
Lexicon Avenue
MV / Envy
Peace Division
Piliavin & Zimbardo
Rui Da Silva
Saeed & Palash
Satoshi Tomiie
Sander Kleinenberg
Progressive trance:
Bedrock
Gabriel & Dresden
Sasha
Tarrentella & Redanka
Way Out West
Basically, if it sounds like proghouse but somewhat spacier, more melody, more trance sounds and less house, it's progtrance. Borders are quite blurred though and you can easily hear both in the same set. |
