BIOS/ Bootup Graphics issues

When i start up my comp, & go into BIOS i cant use the BIOS because there are blocks all over the creen randomly which prevents me seeing what im selcting.
this problem continues onto the bootup screen of Win2k with orange lines Over the top of the loading screen, however when Win2k is fully loaded the problem is gone.
Any ideas what i can do?
i have all the latest drivers installed except for flashing my VGA & mobo BIOS's.

That's a more interesting take on the problems I've been experiencing installing a Radeon 9600 Pro. :( It seems that the wattage of your PSU (Power Supply Unit) is widely regarded as a potential factor in problems like this - Radeons are known to be power hogs and it might be that you just don't have enough juice. It might be worth unplugging your CD/DVD drives and giving that a go, but ideally you should try the card in another machine as that will confirm whether it is the Radeon at fault, or your configuration.
For the time being, be glad that your computer boots at all with the card. :( |

| Yep, I have a Radeon9700 PRO, and I cant RESET my computer, I have to turn it OFF and ON, or else I have jagged lines and unformatted characters on my screen all the way after POST and in Windows. I don't know what the problem is, I've even changed motherboards. |

| Yeah for sure. I put my PC together back in the early part of this year, thinking how awesome it would be from the great reviews of the ATI boards (previously I had been an ALL ASUS man), and that bull happens. No way am I ever swaying from ASUS/Nvidia again! |

It sounds like a memory problem. If the RAM in the video card is a little fubared it can cause arifacts on the display. Radeons are also known to be heat deamons. Unfortanly There is not much you can do besides spend the cash.
It could also be an incompatibilty with your mother board. Try the card in another board. Like your friends box.
If the problem is when the bios is setting up its not a driver problem. Its hardware.
edit: It could also be a incompatabilty with the monitor try a diffrent one. |

Thanks for the help i reckon your probably spot on. the memory on the VGA card may well be a little knackered after a small mod of the card i made. |
