pioneer line (or basically general) cd player question...

i understand the functions of the jogwheel on a DJ cd player,
but, aside from its reputation of being the best of the best,
the Pioneer CDJ-1000Mk2 interests me because of how i see James
Zabiela and many other DJs scratch with it. not that i think
that i'll scratch like Zabiela just because i have a CDJ-1000,
but now that i think about it, ive never seen anyone scratch
with any other CD player...
so the question is... (and yes, im a newbie in the subject,
have never fiddled with a DJ cd player)
are the jogwheels on all other CD players just functional for
fram to frame searching, or does another player offer the same
feature the CDJ-1000Mk2 does?

| the only other dj cd players that you can scratch with would be the the denon s3000, s5000, the pioneer cdj 800, and the cdj 1000 (mk2). some other cd players try to let you "scratch" but its just not the same. the denon 2600f has a digi scratch mode but it pretty much blows, and i think some numarks have some kind of scratch thing going on but its not the same. |

i was really thinking i´d get more of a response...
anyways, dartman, does the cdj800 scratching feature compare
to the 1000Mk2´s? how about the denons? if i get a CD player,
id like one with this capability, because i love breaks and
all the you can pull off with scratching...
also, then what happens with non-scratch CD players when you
play with the jog wheel? does it joes framesearch silently, or
just go flangey, etc? |

| numark axis 9 do the same thing, but with smaller jog wheel... good price, good quality... just like their TTx:D |

is the smaller jogwheel much of a issue?
what does it measure and how does it compare to the CDJ1000's?
(cuz its kinda hard to scratch accurately on a "platter" the size of a quarter) |

the axis 9 has a smaller jog wheel, but it's most definitely not the size of a quarter, i dont know where you heard that. but it's stil extremely easy to use.
if you want the best, Numark is coming out witht the CDX1 in the spring. it will have a full 12 inch platter that spins to emulate vinyl, and the platter is made of vinyl, so iti will ave that "feel". |

damn, the CDX1 sounds SA-WEEEEET...
only bad thing is though, itll prolly be over 1000USD,
and i was interested in Numarks cuz theyre cheaper than
CDJ1000Mk2s, but ah well.. |

currently the CDJ1000mk2's go for well over 1000 bills. however, the numarks are pricetagged for release at $999 (plus tax and fees).
but they'll still be cheaper than the mkii's |

If you're looking to save a little money I'd go with then Denon s-3000..You can get these for under $550 each.
Full scratching capabilities, better customer support than Pioneer, upgradeable software, rotating platter (just like a turntable).
Or if you have the $$, then get the Denon S-5000. Easily the best cd player on the market... |

| you can go back and forth about the pioneers and denons, and which is better, etc....... they're both great cd decks. i've never used the axis 9s, so i cant really comment on them. as for cd players with little jog wheels..... the jog wheels are for frame by frame searching, effects, and pitch bend. pitch bend is speeding up or slowing down the song just for a second to get it in time with the other song if its off just a bit. |

| well, even as that may be so, when you´re using an 130mm jogwheel to scratch with, i can imagine its pretty uncomfortable... |
