my friend is on road runner.they give a cable modem that connects with a network card on the pc
so the first pc has 2 network cards first one for the cable connection and the other one with a crossover cable to the second pc.
i made both pcs able to see each other but i cant find how to connect on the internet with the 2nd pc
tried bridging the connections but nothing....
what should i do?
both pcs use xp |

| first of all, are the network cards on the crossover cable the same speed? and you have to share the internet connection, you didnt say you did that. |

erm they can see each other so the speed isnt an issue
there isnt a physical connection to share like an adsl connection for example |

Ok here what you could do.
PC1:
NIC1 -> Connects to the internet. Share this connection (WinXP) NIC2 -> Connects to PC2. Set static IP adress to 192.168.0.1
PC2:
NIC1 -> Connects to PC1. Set default gateway to 192.168.0.1 (PC1) and set DNS servers to whatever DNS servers PC1 uses.
To find out which DNS servers PC1 uses go to command prompt and type "ipconfig /all"
BTW What operating systems are you using on both computers?
Let me know how it works out... |

Yes you can :toothless
I'll put some screenshots up later!
But anyway...
Go to network connections --> choose the NIC that's connected to the cable modem --> properties --> advanced --> share this connection --> done!!! |

You can find the network connections in the control panel btw... |

WTF indeed!!!
Try this installing this:
Control panel --> Network connection --> Advanced (from menu bar) --> Optional network components --> Network services --> Details --> Internet Gateway Discovery Device and Control Client
