Here's a melodic toon, good for when your playing with your girlfriend's chesticles!

Any feedback, suggestions & criticisms would be most welcome.

Also, any tips on how to create depth (from front to back) would be greatly appreciated!!

I had to get this just because you said chesticles. haha

:D

Anyway, my two cents on the track..
The percussion sounds pretty decent, a little chinsy, but good..there's a perfect reverb applied to it that makes it sound better. The kick also sounds nice with the percussion..

The ideas are all there but I have to say the biggest draw back to this track is the sounds you used. Musically the track is really nice, very calm and relaxing. However, the sounds you've used for the bass and the synths sound as though they're midi sounds..they don't really have any depth or 'umph' to em. And I'm not sure if the piano fits with them either.

Don't mean to sound like a jerk at all - like I said this track is there musically and strucutrally, you just gotta work on the sounds. I think that if you change the sounds to better instruments you'll immediately notice more depth that you are looking for.

What are you using by the way to produce? If I knew that I might be able to give you better suggestions :)

At any rate, overall, nice job on the track, but the sounds do need some work ;)

Cheers

Hey mate, how are you ?

Nice tune mate, as the above poster added, i think the samples you have choosen are a little weak sounding, but you defintally have lots of skill and creativity in designing the whole tune structure and musical peices.

I suggest you go grab some refills from Slsk (Soulseek). The ideas are there, its just your choice of instruments and sounds, you still using the refill packs that come with reason ?

The track, like i said is real nice, good detailed peice of music, will very good flow and direction. I always love your tunes as you seem to inject alot of originallity into them, as we have spoke before i know you enjoy doing that, which is a very important thing.

Slight note, the phaser in reason in not the best, would kind of stay away from that in that first breakdown, little melody at 4:50 would sound really wkd in another instrument, as would those cords in a lower octave and a better deeper, rougher sound.

As far as structure in the tune goes, you have this spot on. Love the sounds before the kick comes back in after the main breakdown, i also lo0ve those pads. Maybee add alittle more effects on them.

Your percussion is getting better in your projects, this is just a case of getting good samples so dont sweat about this mate :

Really enjoying this mate,

Keep it up man, you have potential. Take care

Hi Blake!

Thanks very much for your input - that's the kind I'm looking for (you don't sound like a jerk at all!) I'll make a point to spend a lot more time finding & tweading good sounds, especially if it might create a little more depth. I use Reason 2.5 - any tips on sound creation? Thanks again for the feedback.

Hey Burns!! I'm doing well, how are things over there?
Thanks for feedback - always greatly appreciated! I am a little too dependent the refills that came with Reason... clearly, that is something I need to spend some time working on.

Thanks for the tip on the phaser - I'll go back to that for sure, maybe take it out all together.

For "those chords in the lower octave", are you talking about the low piano, or the low crunchy bass??

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to listen, and write down your suggestions. And for the kind words!!
