Hey guys, any tips on synthesising that common 'woosh' sound...
Somthing like this, I found this on dj-seans files.. Hope he doesnt mind me posting the link here..
I've got somthing similar by using a white noise generator and using a low pass filter over it with 'medium' resonance.. but somthing is lacking ..
Here is dj-seans..

That's just a Synth1 preset called "Wind". Synth1 is a free VST, just plug it into google and you can make any variation of that sort of sound. |

Try using a band-pass filter. This'll give a lower bandwidth for easier, less cluttered mixdowns. Try modulating the band width.
Modulate the resonance with the filter cut-off. Reduce it as the frequency increases. This'll add weight to the (quieter) bottom end while avoiding bleeding ear syndrome in the upper registers.
Use a delay (three 16ths is usually good for trance) for that spacey sound. This is probably what you're missing.
And to add a touch of bite, chuck a phaser or a flanger after the synth (before the delay - after the delay gives a slightly different effect but you might like it!) This can really lift the sound and turn it into something special. If you can, modulate the effect alongside the filter sweep. Leaving it free-running can sound really good though, and give each sweep individuality...
Finally, a touch of reverb will push it into the distance a bit, and give it stereo width and depth. You can increase this by making your delay a ping-pong style stereo delay...
Ah, fun fun fun!
