why is it that anytime there is any sort of musical scene in a movie, it is suddenly part of a "rave"? if there had been a big group of punks dancing around in a room, would a thread have been started saying "omg! they were showing a punk rave, wtf is that?"
it clearly was a fetish club. fetish club != "rave". contrary to popular belief, there are other types of music out there, and other types of music events or club nights dedicated to them. everything is not a rave.

| Still IMHO its all part of the stereotype which YES we have to fight against, everyone sees a big gathering in a movie now (it just needs to be kinda weird not like a normal house party or women skympy [sp?] dessed)and it sometimes doesn't matter the music (like in revolutions) one quickly identifies it as a rave... I personally don't give a Sht about what goes on in the movies, because, ITS the movies |

With the exception of that kid on E that got dumped in the back alley the club scenes from bad boys 2 owned :D And the intro was interesting there too :D |

i agree with several of the statements made on this subject....
but yes it is just the movies and not real life....cause if it were we would all be living a dream right now.....
anyway...the matrix is not crappy...i love that movie...
about the stereotypes yes it is frickin annoying...i remember a day when i saw those and wondered if a real rave was like that....but i soon got over it....those stereotypes have to be destroyed....but you know what let those outsides believe what they want....we have become our own culture.....and a good fun loving culture at that....so what if people think that sex and huge orgy's are all we do....maybe secretly deep down inside their sad little existences they want to join out lifestyle choices......maybe they dont get enough at home and thing to themselves....."Hmmm i just watched a movie with a rave scene in it and everybody is having sex....so now i want to go to a rave and have sex with all those gorgeous babes"....
Only thing i have to say to that guy is WRONG...but hey who knows maybe he will come to the rave and realize that its not what it is in the movies and its just a bunch of people dancing...listening to good in music...and haveing an all around good time and decide "Hey this looks like a good time...i think im gonna stay and see how this turns out.."
What happens then....one more of the iggnorant people out there has just become educated on what we are doing and who we are living our lives....one more person to educate the uneducated......
but of course...im just a orgy loving sex crazed raver what do i know.....hahahahahaha....load of right their.....

well that part sucked, cause the dj (in the ridiculous costume with gasmask) hit the start/stop button and the music was just killed like a cd player, not with the power off effect you get with the technics :whip: |

as far as why i started the thread...i know that it wasn't literally "bondage", but i just used it as a term to generalize people's perceptions of that lifestyle...whips...chains that sorta thing. once you see the new matrix for those of you that haven't then you'll know what i'm talking about. it was also prevalent in movies like blade, swordfish (i think), and other movies that use electronic as the main soundtrack. i personally, can see the difference between a fetish party and a rave, but your general out there can't. and for that reason those kinda scenes manipulate the genre into something that it isn't. when we all go to a party its about the music...not about ing on the dance floor...well ok a combination of the two hehehehe j/k...i don't mean to start any sort of arguments just to see if other people agreed thats all... |
