Hello Fellow Trancers,
Growin up loving music, i've always had a passion toward anything with a good beat. Music if my life, so now that i can *Somewhat* afford it (Saving up for a few months), im looking to enhance the passion further.
Lets get to buisness - Vinyl, although very, very enticing, is somewhat out of the question. I have countless ( i mean countless ) CD's already, and it'd be pointless to make the swap. Dont worry, all the CD's are LEGALLY bought. Promise
:)
So i have been browsing, and so far all i can seem to find (With a decent price) is American Audio PSX's as far as CD players/scratchers go. at near 300$/each, is there anything out there better relatively close to the same price? im also looking for the best mixer i can find (For a n00b DJ such as myself). Money is an issue yes, but ill be saving up long enough to be sure about what im buying, so any advise is greatly appreciated!

My Main intent with this is to take it to college and have fun...you get the picture.

if you want to do some scratching and mixing then.... i might say pioneer cdj 800s or denon s3000, they are more than $300 ea but they are both trusted quality decks. numark axis 9s have there fans and they are cheaper than the other decks i mentioned, but the general feeling is that they are not as nice as the denons or pioneers. if you look hard you might be able to find them some what close to your price range.
if all you wanted to do was mix i would say denon dn4000s, or 2600s/ 2100s, would be a good choice. they are all dual units but work really well for mixing.

as for a mixer, i would say behringer vmx 300 or djm 700. stanton rm 80 or rm 100. vestax has a cheap two channel mixer (cant think of the model). numark makes some decent stuff too. really there are a ton of mixers out there in the $150 -$250 price range. look for one with eqs, and a nice layout. if your just gonna be playing around at college parties, frats and whatever maybe you can find something used that will do the trick. if anything skimp on the mixer and buy the best cd players you can afford. the behringer vmx mixers are mad cheap and people love them.

Thanks alot buddy, ill be looking into all those. i appreciate the help! yea i was thinking that it might be jsut for frat parties and such. But, like i mentioned earlier music is my passion and i'd love to see this escilate from more than just a hobbie. But hey, im just one of thousands of others...we'll see how life leads me.
Interesting thing you sayd that sparked my attention : To spend all i can on the CD players and cheap out on the Mixer (if i have a low budget to start). That helps me out alot. Budgeting time =)

Is it just me or does that contradict everything I've read on TA forums?

If you have to skimp on any part, it should be first the needles, and such, but if it's between getting good decks or a good mixer, I'd go with the good decks.

CDJ800's is WAY off the $300 mark. The best price available is $550 each.

I would advise you to get the Pioneer CDJ100's. They are very cheap and reliable, i learned my ways on a pair of those :)

For the mixer, maybe the Behringer VMX300 are the best of the cheapest available. But keep in mind behringer makes ty mixers and you certantly have to replace it, maybe in less than a year.

Also, if you get the behringer, be sure to put black tape over the beat counters...
