I think his first tune was pretty good, but the second one was totally same.. Killer was horrible and after that i didn't bother listening to him.. The atb remix of airwave wasn't that bad even though the dutch force one was way better:)

Have you ever heard the original(?) from George Michael (Pappa was a rolling stone)? If you did, you'll appreciate the creativity ATB put into Killer. It kicks booty.
Understand that ATB does not MAKE renditions for the trance scene. I don't know why you people incessantly keep comparing ATB to definitive Trance. It's absurd. |

i agree with both tranceDJ and LiquidX.
i too have also seen him play a live set here in texas, and he was great, totally different from what he produces. plus one more thing i wanna add is that "9pm till i come" was VERY inovative and original for its time, dont forget it came out in 1998! thats a long time ago. |
Its very funny how you diss ATB, and well, thats your opinion, but then you say long Live GATECRASHER !lol... its funny cause dont you forget that all the CRASHER kidds were once hooked up to it, remember that this tune was so much Liked in Crasher that its even on the album.. on the Red or wet ?! forgat .. but its on one of the albums ..
so with this your totally saying that Gatecrasher was once for POP music people ?!?! Dont think so.. For the time his song came out .. it was a totally new thing. |

dont worry bro ;) i understood right away. that kinda happens to me all the time too.
also a lot of you say his stuff is to mellow and puts you to sleep... well so what, thats his style and not everyone has to like it, personally i think its great music to listen to while lying on a sun soaked beach in ibiza. but agian thats just my taste, i like more mellow chill trance too (chicane to name one). open your horizan guys. |

| the point is that atb sounds old and dated, cool u may like too listen too him too chill out to but its not for me, as for atb being on the albums they were quite popy anyway and not aimed at the people in the clubs but for kids too get hooked on, a bit like ministry of sounds albums sounding nothing like the club and being for the kids but not that bad |

| Whatever. Personally, I consider ATB's music very unique. In fact, ATB Live @ Trance Energy 02/17/01 is my favorite liveset, caz it's so addictive. And Let U Go is on my Top Ten list. |

I must confess that I started listening to trance with ATB and Ferry Corsten. I personally believe that ATB's production work is better than his DJ-ing. True, his singles are meant for the commercial dance music crowd. Also his track selection for the MoS Acosta/ATB mix is probably exactly the same as that of our local club DJ (read: cheesy club trance). However, in my opinion he has a good sense of melody and hi-nrg rhythms- as evidenced by his remix work on:
Miss Jane- Its a fine day (ATB mix)
Blank and Jones - Cream (ATB mix)
2 mixes that I absolutely adore. |

Is ATB commercial?
Well, I don't think that his first track (9PM Till I Come) was all that commercial. A bit cheesy maybe, but certainly quite innovative at the time. I mean it's not his fault that it was the victim of complete overkill from unimaginative Dj's world-wide, and before it blew up and became boring from complete overplay, yeah it wasn't a bad track.
|
good point, its not really his fault that his songs were overplayed and overkilled. ATB actually makes some good music. I liked his first cd alot, got the 2nd one and it was alrite. |

leave Andre alone...dont blame him for the track going cheesy, if the radio stations or djs played it 2 much...well happens
You should listen to the tracks, without the thought of it being commercial or played too much. Worry and listen to the riffs... and not how many times it gets played. If andre wants to use that guitar riff...live with it!!! and also Let U Go is a lovely track..."I've been to familiar places...I've been running like sentence..."
On one final note I love the matt darey remix of 9pm till I come and the tune of till i come still makes me cry, no matter how cheesy or commercial it is........
"..change it and see Till I come..." |
