here's my two-cents worth... im getting tired of this argument anyways so this will hopefully be my last post concerning this...
first of all i dont not like fifa because i love to hate ea... as a matter of fact i used to be an avid fifa player (until fifa 2000 at least). then ps1 simulators came out on the pc and i could play the early we and pes games on ps1. to be honest i was initially put off by the individual player graphics and fake names etc etc. Slowly but surely though it grew onto me and you begin to realize how much better the people at konami know about football.
So here it is: if you want gameplay pes for sure but if you want official licenses then go wih fifa. Thats they're respective selling points and both ea and konami dont make that a secret.
Having said that the Pes for the pc is going to be different as there will be tons of patches for the games from new teams, leagues, to player faces and correct uniforms. I hear there's even going to be a patch to replace the commentary in pes with that in fifa - surely will piss off a few at ea.
My advice to you is to play the two demos and take it from there.
As for ThaDevil - I am starting to highly doubt that he has played pes before. that goalie tackling the player thing was first done back in the ps1 games and to call pes "arcadish" is absolute rubbish.

Whatever, these guys are obvisouly clueless about soccer, they obvisouly dont mind playing some "zoo soccer" where players stand around like monkeys, and run like they need to crap, with ty commentary, cartoonish graphics, fake teams and players and competitions, with scores like 6-0, 7-2 and 8-4 every game which is totally unrealistic :rolleyes:
Bah, whatever dude, get PES3 and you'll be the most disappoinuted dude ever.
And for the record, I played PES3 a bunch of times, on PS2 and PC (demo), and its pretty lame, not exciting, doesnt even draw me into the game, I played on 5 starts beating Englad 5-0, and then beating Spain 6-3, what a pile of poo. |

Players NEVER miss the ball when theyre trying to head it (do they ever miss on shots, volleys or passes like pes?)

Free kicks and corners go EXACTLY where u want them to. VERY realistic :rolleyes:
All teams have the same tactics and play the same. The ai always attacks the same way, completely through the middle, no crossing etc. Theres all variation in gameplay.
U can score from miles out easily.
Theres 'sweet spots' where u can ALWAYS score from.
Players can hit rocket shots with pinpoint accuracy no matter how unbalanced (etc) they are, unlike pes where facing the right way, using the players good foot and being balanced help with accuracy and power. Ive heard fifa 04 players saying they deliberately DONT take long shots because they know theyll just score.
The new off the ball feature (aka DIY AI)
The ai cheats. Does the ai still do those 5000 mph shots from 45 yards that ALWAYS go in, whenever it feels like giving itself a goal? Of course, only the ai can do these, not the player :rolleyes:
Theres no hand balls (afaik)
Menu navigation is awkward.
Players have huge heads and look like they are recovering from being doused with petrol and set alight
U cant even reconfigure the game controls.

In the dead-ball moments it's not about the ball but about the players. The ball is shot to a specific place and you need to take your player to the place. It's not like you're automatically score when you're doing nothing.

I think you haven't played Fifa 2004 that long. Most teams have their own plan of attack. CPU uses crosses.[/quote]

With previous versions of FIFA this sure was the case. Not anymore. (Or it's just me, haven't found the sweet spots then :D)

Well, not in my game! I only score with free kicks is when the difficulty is set to Amateur. On Semi-Pro you HAVE to be precise when aiming. Even then you won't always score.

Not in pes, altho they could be a bit better. But the good thing is konami i think have tried to make them act like human keepers, giving them similar reaction times to a human and stuff.

Of course its about the ball. In real life nobody can place the ball to the exact centimetre on a cross or shot. Thats just typical of the fifa games. No randomness. Theyre very 'linear' games.
In pes u take a corner like u should have to. Its not just about getting the player to the ball, u have to get the direction right (no big arrows to help), aim compensating for curl (if any), get the power right and height of the cross right. Even then, depending on how good ur kick taker is, he might not hit it to where u wanted.
After u hit it, u can move the player in position for a volley or header.

I havnt played it (i already said that in another thread). Whats the point? Every year for the past 10 years ea have been saying the game is gonna be amazing etc. Then everyone buys it when it comes out and a month later theyre all complaining about how it is, but still believe ea the next year and buy it again... Its just going round in circles. Im not gonna do that any more.

and I take back what I said about PES3 keeper, they are even dumber then the ones in Fifa 2004, I kept passing the same keeper over and over again, how lame.
