Definatly check out the website esskah gave you, it has a good amount of info!

As for some good advice don't get discouraged, at first I couldnt beat match for the life of me. Then one day it will just click!

yah same here i sucked then it came one day.

my advice is to ofcourse beat match by ear. but i find it easier to get the records close to matched, then feed both inputs to the earphones together to perfect the match. i find it easier than matching the beats in the headphones to the beats in the speakers.
oh yah and get a good pair of headphones. if ur mixing with some 5$ pieces of crap the base will probly be so damn destorted u cant distinguish them to begin with

that helped me cuz the sound is allot cleaner in your headphones.

The only advice I can give is practice. As they say "pratice makes perfect"

Just keep at it - at first it will seem like your going backwards but eventually it will just "click" and it will be come a whole lot easier.

Also don't expect to be able to mix seamlessly overnight - I don't think there is one thing that anyone could tell you that will make you mix perfectly straight away......it's gonna take time I'm afraid mate! :)

Good luck and keep at it!

Hi there,

I understand that you have some trouble with your beat mixes...

First of all you must have a pitch controller on your turntable
or your CD player... so i will just have to persume you do...
what you should do is practice a lot on which channel to go
"faster" and after a while you will get used to it... if you
notice that one song is faster than the other just make it go
slower.... it`s simple logic... the rest is just practice...
you will certainly sometimes get mad :whip: but at the end you
will get the point
I hope I helped you

i learnt off two winamps with the pitchfork plugin

you can auto match the pitch from one song to another after clicking in the bpm.. but that's cheating.

so i do it manually.. good way to learn i think.. (I have never used a real mixer in my life mind you), it would be intersting to see how good i am on a real one, since i aint bad at mixing music on the pc.

and vinyl beatmatching, the same theory but a lot different than pc/cd mixers (obviously). :D

Actually there is a great program named MixVibes that you can use. It looks exactly like a double cd with a mixer connected and you can mix up to 16 channels if your soundcard supports it... Great program and I learned to mix by using it! My only problem is that the "response time" when I press the play button is not good enough, I think it's my soundcard that s it up coz it was better before with another one, anyone know what kind of software tweaking I can do to get it better? Anyway it's a great program, get it at www.mixvibes.com if ya' want!

I don`t believe it!!! :eyes:

I have never worked with PC`s my whole life!... how can someone
do that??? I know how to do it... but I don`t want to because
(with all the respect to you DJ`s...) working with PC`s SUCKS!!!
I don`t think that a person that work with a computer can`t call
himself a true DJ because with the right software it`s so easy...! (no offense)
:p I myself work with two CD players and two turntables and a
killer-2-double-channel-mixer... and it
is the best thing in the world... (to my opinion of course!)

So see ya... and tell me what you think here`s some of My music [/U]

hmmmm, think for a while, don't you think I would like to work with "two CD players and two turntables and a
killer-2-double-channel-mixer" but I simply can't afford it as the poor student I am. I really dont think mixing whith a PC sucks that much, it's a great way for us not so wealthy people to practise and maybe someday when we get the money will be abel to buy "two CD players and two turntables and a killer-2-double-channel-mixer"... of course I have mixed some with cd players and turntables and it's a lot nicer BUT as I said, I can't afford that kind of equipment at home... :(
