imo its f*** crap that armin tiesto and all other top djs playing tunes that will be released forever from the time they are playing it, (AKA motorcycle). i think justice will be made if they will play those tunes one or two weeks be4 the actual release date, cause when u play motorcycle in march when the release date is in september its an absolutely torture!
i dont know, i just dont like this forever waiting. |

| Or maybe labels should just hurry the up and release the records faster (hello Vandit). |

Thats always the way, Top dj's are always 6 or more months ahead of us lot when it comes to new tunes,
For example something that were buying now, they played back in march or april. |

well...when you are as good as they are...you too will get the goods months before...
if we all got the tunes at the same time...they wouldn't be who they are...of course that doesn't mean that i don't want them faster hehehe... |

It would be rather interesting if everyone got their records at
the same time. No promo , when you get the latest G&D remix
so does AvB, no playing-promos-6-months-in-advance-.
If would made it a bit more competition.. |

i think thats part of the way its supposed to work, i mean what if no top dj's played anthems like motorcycle.. do you think you would ever check all of them out on your own? i mean names get around in the business, but lots of people still dont know who gabriel and dresden are. and i know we get sick of hearing motorcyle and we label it cheese and overrated but honestly, its only overrated because we've heard it played to death at our venues since we're at the forefront (TAs i mean), while the rest of the world doesnt know the difference.
i think the top djs get better choice about what they get to play, and that a luxury that should only be reserved for high profile folks that can shake and bake as god intended. that way people can get to hear new artists/releases/promo material and judge for themselves if it sucks or not. but to be fair, i definately think the high profile playing has a lot to do with the popularity a release gets. i mean look at all the really great songs that almost no one hears about because they just so happen to not get the high profile exposure that the better known ones get.
just an opinion.
my 2 cents. |

Great post. I agree, it comes with the territory, if you want to be able to spin those brand new tunes months in advance, get the best and newest promos sent to you, get your ass in gear, Tiesto didn't get those promos when he was starting out... they all go through the same thing I imagine.
You could always *cough*burn*cough* MP3s on CD... I have all the new releases! |

I see it as part of the job of a top DJ. Producers send most of their current projects to the likes of Armin and Tiesto in the hope that they'll play these songs and stir up a bit of hype around them. Personally, I couldnt be arsed to search and listen to every new tune that comes out and decide what I like, when I can just listen to DJ's who play the kind of music that I like. That way, I'm far more likely to hear more of the newest tunes of my beloved genres than if I tried to listen to everything for myself.
Although it would be nice to know you're playing tunes of the same standard and "newness" as that of Armin and friends.
The downside to that, of course, is that unless you specifically go out to listen to other genres of music, you're not likely to broaden your horizons.

| Fine, but when labels see that their tune is getting caned all over, they should hurry the up and release it before people lose interest. You get to a point where a tune is played out before it gets released (eg, Beautiful Things!) because the big names hammer the big tunes and hammer them hard. The labels need to recognize this and get the retail vinyls out while the tune is fresh. |

of course a top dj should get the luxury of getting promo releases before everyone else but labels should release stuff to the buying audience. i mean, things has gotten redicolous at some releases
(motorcycle - atrc, andain - beautiful things, all the vandit stuff that "never" gets released and of course we cant forget that bloody dumonde remix of symsonic) |
