Subwoofer Help

Hiya,

Today I was driving and all of a sudden my subwoofer went out.

Well today when I got home, I disconnected everything and hooked everything back up, and still no bass.

Well I took the sub out of the box, and checked all of the connections, replaced the stereo wire, checked the fuse, everything, still no bass.

Well I hit the top of the sub box, and all of sudden, VIOLA bass.

WTF?! But it cuts out after about 30 seconds.

Ok, can someone please enlighten me on this?

Thanks!
DJ Nuclear
Make sure the subwoofer is secured to the car so that it is not moving at all. If it is, the waves will cancel eachother out.

The waves?

I only have one subwoofer mind you :)

Thanks for your help, and the sub isn't moving around in the trunk or anything.

Thanks!

The waves generated by the force of the subwoofer pushing back will cancel the waves generated by the force of it moving forward if not secured properly. Hmmm. Check the soldering too over all of it. It sounds like one of the connections may be wonky somewhere.

Yeah...you obviously have never had a sub lol.

Im guessing the contacts from the box connection to the sub connection got rattled loose. Unfortunately boxes tend to be sealed, but if you can pop out the connector ring where you thread the wire through, you can stick something up there and push the clams back on, then just reseal it with some stick foam.
