i listen to tons of different types of music
i love classical. good jazz can really blow your mind away.
some of my fav. not EDM artists i find myself listening to alot are Elliot Smith (may he RIP, i think he coped out by killing himself), radiohead and Sigur roo's

i would like to spend more time listening to non electronic music just for the sake of opening my horizons even more to other types of music, but theres jsut so much time i have and i always find that its hard enought to really dig deep and find the good EDM stuff.

For those who like black/death/Goth metal (or whatever), just 1 question?

Why listen to it?
Unlike the likes of Metallica, ManoWar, Iron Maiden, and such other late 80-90s metal bands; these new age metal bands sound horrible to me.Their rifts are way off the scale; their double paddle drumming have no rhythm whatsoever and their silly "fierce and brutal" voices just sound...well they sound horrible.

And why the urge to be all evil and satanic like? Most of their lyrics cant even be figured out because theres too much distortion in them. Why so bitter? Why all the hate?

Thats one of the many reasons, why I just didnt like these new metal genres.Where are the good ol days where Rock/metal was all about booze, having fun, lotsa women and enjoying great music?

also, I forgot to mention I loath punk rock. These damn kiddies just learned how to play the guitar and they suddenly think they can make lotsa money by playing 3 chord music.

The sad thing is.. They do make a lots of money.:(

DAMN MTV! DAMN THOSE STUPID TEENS FOR WATCHING THEM !
Vigilante
Bob Marley - man this guy is AMAZING!!!! i f****n love Bob Marley. hmmm what else?

Rock - Powerfinger, Silverchair, Incubus (they were awesome live),
Creed, Coldplay, Limp Bizkit, Jimmy Eat World, Grindspoon etc

Pop - yeah, i admit that i like some chart stuff. I love Kylie Minogue (how could you not with that ass!!!), Holly Valance, Justin Timberlake, Delta Goodrem (australian pop star), etc

RnB/Rap - Eminem, 50 Cent, Craig David, Fabolous, 2PAC(the
king of rap IMO), Black Eyed Peas

Metal - Deftones, Metallica

Punk - pennywise, NOFX, Guttermouth, Toe to Toe, Blink 182

Man i listen to all genres of music, and i like a lot of different stuff.

I would have to say the oly genres that i don't really like are country music and classical

Hmmm. Good thread. I used to be into classic rock with a passion... I think I own every single one of Led Zeppelin's albums. Right now I'm into U2, Coldplay, Evanescence, and Seal.

While we're on the topic, has anyone heard of the band Godspeed You Black Emperor? I can't really think of a way to quantify their music, but for anyone who watched '28 Days Later,' their song "East Hastings" was played when Jim is wandering the deserted streets of London after he gets out of the hospital.

The proportion of trance in my time dedicated to listen music is too high (+ or- 80%) and the rest (20%) I heard artists like Robbie Williams, Phil Collins, Cranberries some R'n'B and cheese trance.
