help, photoshop colors screwed up!

so i open up photoshop and my pictures don't look right
black looks navy blue and everything looks much brighter...
wtf? i didn't touch anything!
it saves correctly, but it's annoying because it displays different colors!
help!!!!!! |

| Umm.. Probably the psd had an integrated color profile, whether your computer's screen is not calibrated, or calibrated wrongly, hence the miss-matched colors... Also, if you went from RGB to CMYK or to LAB, possible minor color shifts may occur, considering the radically different color description in those systems... |

that's what seems to be the problem... the warning window said that the image was in a different color profile - i never saw this window before today... so i went and set the profile to default photoshop... the window is gone but the display colors are still too bright... oh well, i'll live |
