Hey guys, so I promised a report and it’s taken some time for me to recover (I slept all day, I woke up at 17:30) *lol* here it is:
Kelly (all the way from Belgium), Arturo, Harold and I left our hotel around 9 PM to Café Asia. We got there and met all the other TA’s who were already there, I’m sorry I don’t remember everyone… or well, I remember faces but hardly any names! I started drinking Cosmopolitans just about as soon as we got there, and seeing I didn’t eat, I was kinda drunk by the 3rd one hahaha! Armin arrived shortly after we got there and so I also went up to say “hi”. Armin asked how Miami was etc. It was nice to talk to him again for a bit. I told him at midnight it would be my birthday haha. It was great to see Armin talking to everyone, laughing, signing stuff etc. It was also great meeting some people I’ve been talking to online, and so many TA’s and just some great new people in general!
I don’t remember what time we left the club, hell, I don’t even remember HOW we got to the club *lol* I do remember that we got in for free because Armin had asked Pete Moutso to put us on the guestlist :) We got a nice spot in the center front and started getting into the music so that we’d be totally ready to party when Armin came on. At midnight it was my birthday! 20 years young and no longer a teenager, I put on a really corny tiara-kind-of-thing that said “Birthday Girl” in a little heart in the center *lol*. All these people came up to me to wish me a Happy Birthday, it was so nice!! I guess Armin came on at 1 AM, I was sobering up a bit, but not yet completely sober, hahaha.
Armin started his set with Markus Schulz pres. Elevation-Clear Blue and from that point on I knew it was going to be a night to remember! Armin took us on a great musical journey full of melodies and energy combined in just the right way. Everyone in the club was going absolutely insane! It was great!!! I was dancing and jumping all through out the set, and every once in a while Armin would look at me and Kelly and give us that knowing smile ;)
Armin spun each and every track that I wanted to hear. My full on blast of Armin energy started when he spun Andy Hunter-Go! (Antillas Remix). I just LOVE that track!! From that moment on I was just one happy, jumping birthday girl stuck in a wave of euphoria and glow was my Utopia hahaha. Before Armin started his set, I had given Ian my phone with the request for Armin to please spin Agnelli & Nelson-Holding onto Nothing. So when he did, my night was already complete. I sang along so hard and jumped and danced.
Then during Time of Our Lives everyone was singing along. Armin had us right where he wanted us, partying hard, singing along, and really having the time of our lives. When the familiar first sounds of Burned with Desire started I was squealing and telling Kelly OMG OMG OMG! Hahaha, I went nuts. I still love that track so much.
Right after Loops & Things (Relooped) I got to go backstage for a while. Armin wished me a happy birthday and gave me a copy of Burned with Desire which he signed “For my most loyal fan! Xxx Armin”. It made my night! Wooeeiii! I stayed backstage for a while dancing, and talking to some people there. I told Armin that this was my 14th (YES FOURTEENTH) time seeing him since June and that I had to say that this was the most amazing set I had experienced live from him to date. He couldn’t believe it haha. I also told him I was coming to NEC Gatecrasher which he couldn’t believe either. Haha All the things I do to see Armin!!
During Oceanlab-Sky Falls Down I went back downstairs because the security guy wouldn’t let Kelly come up with me, and I didn’t want to leave her down there by herself! So I went back to the front where Kelly was and we danced and danced. When Oceanlab-Satellite came I once again sang my heart out along with the track because it’s so damn beautiful! And then finally Yet Another Suburban Train… and then it was over…. A night to remember, I can’t wait to see the pictures. It was surreal almost! My voice was all messed up from all the singing along haha. I think even Armin was surprised that I knew the lyrics to most of the tracks he spun *lol*
All in all, it was a great, GREAT birthday, and a great set by Armin. I can’t wait to see him again. What can I say? I’m an addict ;) Thanks everyone for a great night that will forever remain in my memory and in my heart.

NO DUDE!!! WRONG AGAIN!!!!!!
pvd's live pa's w/ mcdaid mean to me because 1) i wasnt there.... 2) i havent even had the chance to hear how it sounded! in all likeliness, he probably didnt do so hot live....
i think armin could surprise us all doing a live gig though. the truth is there is talent in production and there is talent in DJing... and yeah, it overlaps but i think armin is SUPER talented as a producer, and not so much as a DJ... therefore, THAT is the reason why i think he would do a good live PA.... just like Nu-Nrg... i mean , i dont want to see them DJ! |

Oh man...what a weekend!
Just got back home a few hours ago, and I have to work tonight! ^_^
After Armin, I got a hold of my friend Christiana, who was with her friend Shannon upstairs at the afterparty that started at 4am. So, they came out to me, we moved the car to another spot, and we were at the afterparty until after 7am or so. Then I drove us to Christiana's parents house near Baltimore, where we crashed. Shannon left after 6pm, Christiana and I hung out for a little and got pizza, and then we left for her dorm around 10pm. She did some schoolwork as I continued reading Book V of Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series, we watched a movie, and were out cold after 5am. Woke up late this morning, read until she woke up, helped her clean her room a little, and was on my way home after 4pm! Whew!
Anyways...

Oh, and if you read this, starwarssteve, I think it was you standing next to me up front. You were getting freakin raped by those dickholes behind you. I wanted to punch them the whole time. Freakin douchebags.
|
Srezic...that was definitely me. :( Yeah...there were definitely a few major s who didn't seem to care that I am much shorter then them, and weigh alot less. The biggest offender was that tall guy with the black long-sleeve shirt with the sunglasses.
So a major " YOU" goes out to the tall guy with the black long-sleeve shirt who thought he was the man or something! :whip: I swear, it was like I didn't exist! He kept shoving me to the side or way forward, and I'd push back. It was really ing frustrating. At one point, I even turned around to him, and was like "what the ??". He shrugged his shoulders, like he didn't see the problem. So I used my hands to distinguish our height difference. He got that for maybe a few minutes, and then the same crap again. Now, by nature, I'm really a decent guy, and I don't enjoy instigating fights. But if he didn't give up and go somewhere else when he finally did, I was going to turn around, punch him in the stomache, and then break his ing nose! That would've satisfied me...but then the bouncers would've kicked me out, and I would've been ever more pissed. Oh well.
And that girl with her boyfriend who came on the stage constantly was also very annoying. lol...after Armin gave her a thumbs up, and she assumed that meant it was ok, she got up by the booth. The look on Armin's face was priceless...he was like "uhhh...okay. You're kinda scaring me now"!!! :D
I think I'm going to have a t-shirt made for me. On the back, it'll say "I'm 5'3", and 108 lbs. Don't tread on me, or you'll be sorry". ^_~
Other than that crap, and Christiana making us late to the dinner due to her poor navigational skills and taking waay too long to decide on what clothes to wear, the night was actually really kewl! ^_^
Damn...I should really sleep. If even for an hour.
Well, in brief:
* It was great catching Armin at the dinner before he left. I had a red Armind shirt on that I got from a guy on ebay, and Armin said he knows of the guy! ^_^ So I got props for my taste in clothing. ;)
* I got a pic with Armin, and Armin actually sat down so I could be the taller guy! lol...the #3 DJ/my idol is sitting down so I could be the bigger guy. Thanx Armin! ^_^
* Since several people noticed, I don't think this would be a big deal. But I noticed Armin had some "Burned with Desire" records at the dinner, and just as a joke, I asked him if he was giving them out. I didn't expect anything, but he looks around, hands me a copy, and says "shhh. Just don't tell anyone. I don't want to make anyone cry". Again, thanx Armin! ^_^
* Nice seeing some familiar faces and some new ones, both at the dinner and at the club.
Man...I so need to get some sleep.
I apologize for cutting this short, since there is more to say and names I met.
All in all, I did have a good time. Armin was great, and I look forward to seeing him again when he is nearby.
To everyone I met: Heyyy!!!!! ^_^
Okaybe...I'm outie.
Long days and pleasant nights. ^_^x

that guy was driving me INSANE! i'm 5'8", and i was wearing 3" heels (sorry to anyone i blocked or shoved, i've learned that the best thing to do is push back  ) and this guy was still in my way, and moving really erratically so i kept getting thrown around. there's one everywhere -- i think i saw one of the security guys finally make him leave, or at least move to the back, which was intensely gratifying.

dude don't assume anything. yes, im an active pvd fan... and i was into him 3 years ago, before i made my first freaking post on this forum! and just because you might have presented yourself that way once, doesn't make you and i the same! its not pvd that got me into dance music. it was my own musical tastes and the music at the time in 1996....like UNDERWORLD. i go see other djs, and i listen to music pvd would never dream to play, and enjoy both.
and for the last time, i said the live PA thing only because i think armin's djing is not so strong. why on earth would it be related to pvd doing ONE FREAKING SONG LIVE LIKE TWICE IN HIS LIFE?!?!? and no, i did not even mean doing it with ray wilson or whatever other vocalists he's used. the vocalists! i meant a proper ing set, played out live, instead of MIXED. JUST LIKE NU NRG@ARC. you were there, why dont u get it? i dont know what about this is so hard to understand! if still, you think i suggested it because pvd played time of our lives in two cities with the Mcdaid, then really.... this says something about you, not me. i don't stereotype people, and i don't think people have the right to sterotype me. if you want to have a war, count me out...
armin and pvd both do a lot for trance. armin in his productions and pvd in his djing. end of ing story. |

Dude, just chill the out, and stop talking about PvD in this thread.
We know you dont enjoy Armin's mixing and thats enough. But we all DO like it, so end of story. |

It's all about the vibe anyway...
does it really matter if he DJ's a certain way?
as long as the music sounds nice
and the majority of the clubbers are enjoying themselves that's all that matters.
your live set idea is pointless, you dont enjoy seeing him play with vinyls but like his music? Maybe you should make an account on Amazon.com and buy up vynils and cd's.
all I can you my friend sound smug and you seem gloat that you prefer other Dj's over armin playing live...
I absolutely ING DIED when I went to see Armin and I sae him in NYC and i saw PVD@ roxy with the loud ass bass, avb does more for me then armin with attitude alone. sounds kinda gayish i know i know, but to me and im sure many others a DJ is entertainer first and technician second...
can this happy go lucky jewish boy get an amen? |
