if i owned the stcum i would fire all the employee disband the union and say that the STCUM no longer exist, then i would say how ever a new transit system is opening, and hireing, who ever would like to come over from the stcum can, but there is no union in this compagny. Stupid Unions. Its gone from greedy corparate leaders to gready union workers who obviously don't understand what it takes to run a compagny.
this happened at least twice and was just barely avoided i dunno how many times in recent years in ottawa. |

in fact, the STM isnt a corporation because its owned by the population. the main problem is the power that any union in the public sector has because of the direct impact of their actions on the population
a good example of that power; how is it possible that a "bus janitor" earns as much as a teacher in a primary school which has a baccalaurate in education..?? the bus janitor hasnt even completed his secondary 5!
as mike b said, they should fire all thoses ******s and look for cheaper outsourcing solutions.. but i think it's too late now..
one of my friend was working at STM last summer, and his job was to count the money you dropped in the metal boxes that every bus has.. people around him were earning ~30$ per hour and they were talking about striking because they werent happy with their salaries !!!
btw, the STM isnt rich at all. it's really hard for them to finish every financial year without major losses... and a complete restructuration of the subway system (overdue of 3 years!!) is planned for 2005! they are going to boost the prices of all the services they offer and this the normal end for that type of story.. they gave the bus drivers 11.7% more in salary, the "bus janitors" wants more money too, the restructuration of the subway system.. where to find the money? by asking that stupid Charest? HAHAHAHAHA, I don't think so.
let's hire Peladeau to solve that issue.. based on what we saw about the Videotron issue, he surely knows how to solve that problem hehe
~ Patrice
P.S: You can get your money back for weekly passes, but not monthly ones. |

you mean why doesn't a teacher makes more money that he's actually making...

30$/h isn't alot of money man, you get ed beyond belief by taxes and other ... people gotta support their families.

STM will make a deal for the monthly passes too, it all depends on how long the strike will be. |

| IM sorry but 30$ an hour to take care of buses is a lot of money compared to teachers as RazerYokes pointed out...Les prof ont une responsabilité énorme sur le developpement des enfants et l'impact qu'ils ont sur les futurs adultes que ces enfants deviendront est énorme...Dans les écoles ils manquent de matériel et pendant mes stages j'ai été étonner de constater que certains enfants dîne dans les corridors des écoles!...And ppl who clean busses and count money chiale parce qu'ils font pas assez d'argent...im really pissed about that. |
