Is "As the rush comes" the number one trance tune of 2003, Are Gabriel and Dresden the real deal, and who will they remix next?
I’m Barry Rooke with another CJIQ music moment. Gabriel and Dresden burst onto the Progressive trance scene in early 2002 with a stunning remix of the classic New Order song “Someone like you”. Since then, the duo has released over 30 tunes officially, and dozens of bootlegs for their own personal DJ sets.
Josh Gabriel is a 33 year old from San Francisco, California. He has been producing music on his computer since the early 80’s, releasing his debut single under the name “Wave3” which received much praise by the trance community, especially when it was played on Pete Tong’s World famous show, Essential Selections. Before Josh teamed up with Dave Dresden he spent a lot of his time working with for Sony, Disney and Mixman Technologies, who he co-founded to make the Mixman Remix software.
In a recent interview with Armin Van Buuren on his popular show, A State of Trance, Dave Dresden explained how he met Josh at the world music conference in 2002. At that time, the Miami native Dresden was collecting new music for Pete Tong while recently off a job at WMFK, Hartford. Instantly the two connected, as Josh produced and Dave gave the new productions that progressive DJ flair. Solid base and drums with that uplifting feel to put a smile on your face.
In the last year, Gabriel and Dresden have released some smashing tunes. Collaborating with a young singer names Jess, the two produced a song called “Motorcycle As the Rush Comes” in only 2 hours, Which instantly sent DJ’s all over the world scrambling for any copy they could get their hands on. The duo really made a name when they released a remix of an Andain song called “Beautiful things” and most recently in America with a remix of Evanescence’s “Hello”.
Remix’s of Jewel, Sarah Mclahlan’s “Fallen” as well as Britney and Madonna’s tune “Me Against the Music” are undoubtedly reasons why Gabriel and Dresden are considered by many to be the hottest new producers on the Trance scene.
