audio technica w1000 reviews? (pg. 2)

Word is that the W1000's are slightly bass-shy and a bit analytical sounding. Why not go for the Sony MDR-CD3000's, which supposedly are the best headphones with which to enjoy electronic music?
MERTON
i don't like sony... i thought the w1000 was supposed to have good bass? what about the a1000?
oh.. and the 627's exude bass btw.
are you thinking of the w100 as bing bass shy? cus the w1000 is supposed to have great deep bass.
Gluegun
*shrugs* I just read some reviews that said the W1000 was sterile-sounding compared to the HD600's from Sennheiser... and I certainly don't like the sound of the HD600's for electronica... Also, even if you don't like Sony, that's no reason to dis the CD3000's... cause they *ARE* kickass headphones...
MERTON
blah! no sony.. and the w1000 is supposed to have better imaging than even the akg k501.. that's one reason i really want them.
Gluegun
*shrugs* then buy them. I'm not stopping you...

Here are a few interesting threads... at least SKIM them...

a CD3000 vs. HD600 vs Beyerdynamic DT880 thread... with a nice picture about soundstage:
http://www4.head-fi.org/forums/show...&threadid=47672

a ATH-A1000, ATH-W1000, ATH-W2002 and MDR-CD3000 comparison... skip to the two conclusion sections at the very bottom ("So, that’s it. What have we learned?" and "Sound-only Evaluation"). Also, this says the CD3000's have a better soundstage:
http://www4.head-fi.org/forums/show...&threadid=32458

Here's a thread talking about the CD3000's and electronica... VERY interesting!
http://www4.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47421

Here's a thread with very informative replies comparing the CD3000 and W1000:
http://www4.head-fi.org/forums/show...&threadid=31863

Here's a thread comparing the soundstage of the CD3000 to the W1000; the CD3000's soundstage is larger (read the replies):

Bump so you see I made a new reply, cause I edited the old one... ;)
MERTON
i can't read any head-fi.org ... ip banned i am. but i know the soudnstage is smaller on the w1000. but it should ahve better imaging and isolation. can you cut and paste those posts here?
Gluegun
Why not go to the library or a friend's house and read the posts from there?? Surely you can get to a public library without too much trouble? What was your username on head-fi?
MERTON
MERTON.. you don't know me at all do you? they have a thread on headwize.com that will answer some things. just go to the general section and look for a locked thread made by me.i became pretty viscious on that thread.. but i think rightfully so.
c'mon... cut and paste!:D i think they banned the lancaster library ip too.
Gluegun
*reads the stuff on headwize and head-fi*

Duuuude.... you really are clueless, aren't you? The first step on being able to get yourself un-banned is to realize a few things...

first of all, headwize and head-fi are a closely knit, intellectually oriented community. People there LIKE reading long stuff and debating; the fact that people wish for and get reviews that you dislike is proof enough.

Second... by disrespecting the written and unwritten rules of the community, you provoked their collective ire... no one there respects things like post count, they look for individual behavior...

Third, if you want to get your library and your school un-banned, you have to realize that, no, you WEREN'T in the right, and go apologize to Jude and politely ask for rights to view Head-Fi.. if you're nice about it, I'm sure he'll be okay... explain that you don't want to sign up again, you just want to lurk and read, and he might give you a chance...

Fourth... grow up... people act far differently here than at places like head-fi; the forums cater to different crowds. If you want to get along in life, you're going to have to figure out how to react and understand (and not provoke) different communities, alright?

Finally, LOOSEN UP. Don't take everything personally, and don't be obsessed about always being "in the right" or having a certain image online... it makes you look fake and vain... so chill, alright?

:haha: ROFL!

Not sure what I have started by posting but hey... I'm sorry Merton, Gluegun does make some good points.

I also have to agree with some of the other posters that this isn't really the forum for it. This is really meant for DJ related items. While I appreciate good audio equipment, it's not why I use this forum.
