Getting somewhere

I'm 16 and I've been DJing (bedroom i mean) for almost 2 years, and I think I'm decent now, in terms of mixing anyway... so how could I take it further, even if it only means the occasional party? As far as club gigs go I dunno if, being the age I am, would let me get a gig as easily as someone who's 18-plus... any suggestions welcome, I'm just bored of playing to my bedroom wall, i want someone to hear my music :p

And ye, an online radio show would be an option but I've got a crappy connection

well, if you look old enough, youd be surprised of
how you might get a club gig. provided youre a good
DJ, its not like they require you to send a copy of
your ID along with your demo mix.

of course, thats whats ideal. go for it, you never know.

try to send a couple of demos to promotrers, or people
who just sporadically throw parties with actual DJs
(try to stay away from a party where youre the only
real DJ, because in the end youll just get frustrated,
when they say that the other 2 fools using atomixmp3
are better than you because you dont play hiphop)

dunno, get out there, send tapes, have fun.

make a really nice demo cd and get it into the hands of people that might be able to help you out. not just with getting you gigs but also with some constructive critizism (spelling). you can make some mixes and give them to your friends and get their reactions, what did they like, what didnt they like.

if you know anybody that is having a party, like a house party, offer to dj there for free. you dont even have to play the whole time, maybe just for a couple hours when the party is at its peak. that will get you used to playing infront of people. you dont even have to be all that good, if you get people to move at all its a success. the more you play for people the better you will become and then people will ask you to dj their parties.

be pro-active

get out and meet people.

Prove who you are and what you do; and NEVER be content. You're never going to be safe in a position nor do you want to feel safe cause of you let your guard down you won't try to work your way up and gain opportunities.

Meet the people in charge and bust your ass off workwise cause it's not by hoping for that little "dream situation" that you'll ever get somewhere.

And most importantly NEVER give yourself excuses for failing ' oh my records are too ty or whatever '. You provide yourself and all that you are and if you can't back yourself up 100% then just give up right away cause in 5 years you'll be at the same level or possibly haven't even "started". GIVE IT ALL THAT YOU GOT.
