Did anyone catch Channel 7 11:00 news story on free parking in the city? Very imformative.
Basically, people are making fake parking placards (we've all seen them on the streets in dashboards) and getting away with it because the Traffic cops don't know the difference.
The reporter made a "Policeman's Benefactor Fund" placard, laminated it, and put in on her car, parked the car in a No Standing Zone, left it for 12 hours... no ticket! :eek: :eek:

| that might work till tons of people start doing it.......what you have to ask yourself....is it really worth the risk? |

| yea.. im sure all they have to do is run the plate on the car to verify. but yea.. seems like it would work untill too many people start doing it. |

Wonder what the penalty to pay is going to be...
Just wondering, since I'm a fireman and all... Am I allowed to park in any Fire Zone?

from my experience, my friends eclipse was "RELOCATED" for the marathon in NYC and all they did was put "Vehicle Relocated by 20th Preceint" under his windshield wiper. lols like anyone could of just ripped it off since NYPD reparked it infront of a hydrent lols
as for risk? lets see - nyc is a towing zone....its easy money think about it... $185 to get it towed plus the ticket you receive in the mail plus the cab ride over to the pier on the westside!
and wat does it cost the city? NOTHING, they hire guys to drive around the city just towing ur lols how much u think they pay them?????? they have/own the space on the westside which the CITY pays for and lets NYPD station their cars there...so basically its easy money! i hate nypd! |

I totally agree with you brian. I left my car at 5:45 in a no parking (till 6pm) zone to go shopping in the city. I came back at 6:05 and it was gone.
On the flip side it used to be one my jobs at McDonalds (manager) to make sure that cars where being towed if they didn't belong in our lot ;)
- 50% of the time the guys pulled it from the rear and ed up the persons trany. |
