EPIK ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS FIRE IT UP!
January 9, 2004
EDDIE HALLIWELL
www.seriousworld.com
Eddie Halliwell bought his first set of decks at the tender age of 15. His realization that he was too young to play in clubs led him to a 3-year Music Technology course, where he picked up some of his creative talents as his famous hip-hop style scratching.
This ability to scratch over different genres of music has earned him not only respect from fellow DJ’s, but also admiration from stunned crowds. Add this to the fact that he is a born showman (his interaction with the crowd has got to be seen to be believed!) and you have a club full of happy people going insane!
Eddie has performed all over the world and is a Gatecrasher DJ, who held a residency with Judge Jules in Ibiza at Eden in 2003.
Recently, Eddie was voted #20 on the top 100 DJ list! Don’t miss your chance to see this fresh talent who is taking the world by storm!
Come on out with Eddie Halliwell… and FIRE IT UP!

Hee-hee... yes... I do know him.
I have known him for 2 years or so... and he joined EpiK about 4 months ago.
We hang out quite a bit... he's my side-kick on the weekends.
We were looking at pictures yesterday @ his house... he was showing me the TA's that he hung with in New York and such! |

Dallas and Houston have pretty decent scenes (especially Houston). Austin died for a while, but is making a small resurgence with recent guests D:fuse, Danny Howells, Chris Fortier, and DJ Heather.
So, my question is, why is there not a regional forum that would encompass Texas and the surrounding areas?:conf:
Recent and upcomming events in Houston:
Tiesto
Oakey
Sandra Collins
friday, december 5th
Danny Howells
friday, december 12th
Donald Glaude
friday, december 19th
The Scumfrog
January 4th
John Digweed

Hmmm not too shabby. Doesn't that deserve a regional forum? :conf: ;) |

as crazy as this sounds, but i think i can make it to this show!!
im moving to Ft. Sill, OK on Jan 15th and was planning on heading to Austin to chill for a few days prior, so this definitely looks like something ill plan on attending and best part is that i get to hang out with ARMANDO again,... we can pull some more shannigans like we did earlier this year in NY and DC, ahh good times!! and i cant wait to see some of the Dallas scene

| Hehe there's nothing in Oklahoma, so you should! I've never heard Eddie Halliwell before. What does he spin? I'll probably go for Digweed, but that's in Houston. :) |

Well... what does Eddie Halliwell spin... Hard Dance, Hard House, Trance... upbeat... ENERGETIC tunes...
OH... and he SCRATCHES... and puts on ONE HELL OF A SHOW!
NONE of his CD's do him justice. 1/2 of Eddie's appeal is how NUTS he is on stage!
HERE is a REVIEW from a party-goer who saw Eddie in LA:
-------------------------------------------
eh, fawk it
eddie blew me away about 3 weeks ago here in LA.
by far the best set i've seen all year and i've seen some wicked sets this year. this one just stood in a league all its own.
from the first track on it was all eddie halliwell. i really don't think it was just my own anticipation that made it so sweet. he took it and ran with it. he played such the perfect concoction of techno and hard trance that it was hard for me to believe it was 3 am on a thursday night. it felt like peak hour his whole set.
there were times i honestly felt like a kid again.
before i became a dj.
before the over-criticalisation (is that a word?! lol) of the music.
for a good long time.....time stood still.
to me, that's what's most important. i'm at it because it's therapeutic. i was in my own little world surrounded by people in the same zone.
thanks eddie for taking me back to that time.
as for his skills? i'll admit this. there were a few times he was a bit off. a bit wobly if you will, but as a whole....it was amazing. i've never seen someone work a CDJ1000 the way he was. he created an entirely new build, on the fly. it wasn't the most ear-pleasing melodic sound at all. it was complete analog sounding madness. i personally love dirty dance music like that so i was in awe. his scratching was not overly done in any way. it wasn't as impressive as i had expected, but my expectations are pretty high in that i have thee-o in my backyard and have for over 5 years. (there's a guy that needs to come back to dallas, thee-o!)
as for his antics....i dig em. he genuinely enjoys what he's doing. mad respect for anyone doing what they love to do and has found a way to share it. he's truly a sight to see. by far one of the most entertaining nights i've had in a long time.
he honestly reminds of donald glaude in many ways. musically of course. |
