From Deutsche Welle:-
The United States plans to release 140 of the 660 detainees at its prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, possibly by Christmas. Time magazine reported on Sunday quoting a military official that "the easiest 20 percent" of detainees were slated for release. It did not identify its source, who said the military was waiting for "a politically propitious time to release them." Human rights groups have criticized the United States for holding the 660 detainees without charges. According to Time, U.S. officials had concluded some detainees were kidnapped for reward money offered for al Qaeda and Taliban fighters. Since the prison opened in January 2002, prisoners from 42 countries have been taken to Guantanamo Bay for detention and questioning.

- All I can say about this one is thank God if it comes to fruition, this way the U.S. can move towards silencing those who refer to Guantanamo as a concentration camp, illegal, inhumane, etc, etc. Maybe there are some innocent people there, we will never fully know, but the fact remains that this place is more of a political headache than it is worth. I would release the least influential of those being held and keep the big whigs right there, the question is who is who. I frankly find Guantanamo to be a bit odd in that charges should be brought against those held, but I love the one Pakistani guy that decides to sue for being mistreated in Guantanamo, according to him, and we thought that Islam was incompatible with the West, what better American tool than the good old lawsuit.:haha: With that said hope he doesn't get one dime from it.

Same here :p, although I always knew that the Aussies would be let out due to the fact that we sent troops to help the US in Iraq.
