how do you use the 1-10 rating system for members of the opposite sex?
is it a standard gradient or a tangential curve?
ie
or
basically:
is a 2 just a bit better than a 1, and a 5 just an average?
or are you saying that 7 is the average with 1 being a DAMN YO UGLY and a 10 being WHOS YOUR DADDY?
cuz sometimes people use it as a grading curve. with 6.0 and below being a failure, and the lower the more dismal, with 7.5 average and 9 and 10 being for the RARE uber hotties.
I see myself vascillating between the two. Most of the time i go for the gradient and it seems that most people either have really low standards or are using some inexplicable scale of their own while masquerading it under the 1-10 scale.
whats your scale of choice?
(this is all assuming im forced to use this scale instead of the -10-10x0-10 scale) |

| ive always thought that such 1-10 scales should be somewhat correlated to a standard dist. curve, but the more and more i see people use them, the more and more i see things get piled on one end or the other. |

| which doesnt make a whole hell of a lot of sense either. or maybe it links to an intrinsic ego problem wherein the person either views people as way too far below them or untouchable thus avoiding uncomfortable and potentially complicated matters. |

I'd say average is around a 7, with things below that being gradually worse. and 9 and 10 being some fine pieces of ass.
I guess I kinda look at it like test grades, 70 is pretty good, 60 kinda sucks but not too bad, etc etc, meanwhile a 90 or a 100 are sweetttt |

and I have to take into account the situation. Girls I meet and come into contact with I am more lenient. However with people on TV, or some place I will never meet, I have very high grading scale.
but it basically goes along the lines of the school grading system as mentioned above. |

I'd say the distribution of grades goes by the Gauss' bell curve, or the normal probability curve. Most women fit inside the central portion, or the grades from 4-7, while the specimen who fill in the 1-2 and 9-10 cathegories are quite rare.

Now we see that it's not people's scales that are distorted, but it's rather the qualitative distribution of specimen that is not linear. |
