small behringer mixers

i have been looking around at mixers lately and have found the behringers to have small mixers that are extremely cheap in comparison.. ive been using a cheap midi controller and reason for a little while now and have decided to expand. i plan on getting a couple hard synths in the future and i have a guitar right now. I am still quite new too most of this and i can't figure out if i bought the behringer ub1002.. http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHUB1002 .. would it be a bad decision to go with that if i plan to expand some. i dont plan on going over $125-$150 with a mixer because i still plan to use a lot of soft synths with only a couple hard synths and a guitar. i have also looked at the ub1204.. http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHUB1204P ... i am also wondering if there is a reason that these behringer mixers are so cheap(besides the fact that theyre slightly smaller than most).

they're cheaply made and colour the sound. it's like having a disposable mixer. :) that being said, you're not going to find another mixer for that price range unless you can find a used mackie somewhere and even then I don't think it's likely. I've been using a behringer 1604A for the past year as well just to run a couple of synths into my pc. I don't really have any complaints with it. IMO, as long as you're not doing any final mixing on it they're alright, because you're going to eq and change the sound once it's on your HD anyways...
