Mainly looking at the Alesis M1 MK2s, and the Event TR8's.
Anyone have any opinions on them? Also, I've never heard Monitors before, I know they aren't meant for being loud, but when you crank em up are they loud enough for a small room? Like you know sometimes you got people over and your mixing or even when you are by yourself and just wanna crank the tunes :toothless Nothing to blow the roof off or anything obviously...
Anywayss, lemme know thaks :) |

never heard those monitors.
but about being loud.. it depends on the speaker. I assume you want to buy active monitors, with amp built in, so it really depends on how much power is being delivered. 75-100 watts should be sufficiant to get some fairly loud volumes. Dont expect alot of bass from an average sized monitor though. |

| when purchasing studio monitors to dj mix on i cannot stress enough to get 8" drivers on the monitors or if you go with 6 1/2" or smaller drivers get a sub. standard 6 1/2" and smaller drivers are fine for production but they just lack the bass you'll want for dj mixing. cheers. |

| I have the Event TR8's. They are very good...and an excellent bang for the buck. I barely crank it up and the bass is bangin. The highs and mids are clear and don't distort. |

Alesis M1 MK2s have 6 1/2" woofers, so you wont get amazing bass.. the the Event TR8s should be a good choice. The Alesis ProLinear 820s look decent for around $450, or the M-Audio BX8s for $480.
Since you are not doing production work, accurate sound reproduction shouldnt be your primary concern. Besides, good sound quality with enough bass is very hard to come by in an active monitor below 500. |

I may be doing some production too eventually... Right now it's just fooling around in reason and stuff, not really at the point where I am looking for good monitors for that purpose, so right now i'm looking mainly for ones for djing...
do you thik the M-Audio BX8s are a good choice? |

M-Audio gear is usually very reliable.
The BX8s should be a decent choice for DJ monitors. When you are looking for really good accuracy in production, an upgrade would probably be necessary, but for now they would be a strong choice. |
