It's pretty sweet..... but I'd personally be more happy with a Roland Fantom-S (large sized one)...b/c I'd basically the same thing blown up to size. It's got a drumpad, interesting alternative MIDI controllers, and fuller keyboard.

Either that or just get myself a simple dumb-controller and interface to hookup to any number of soft-synths on my comp.

But isn't that Roland like $2000.00???
This Korg is just a controller and only $299.00 That's quite a price difference.

Indeed, there's a big difference between the Korg and the Roland. The Korg is a controller, it's made to control other things, it doesn't generate any sound of itself. The Roland is a workstation, theoretically you could make a full tune just using a workstation (has a sequencer, generators, samples, effects, etc...).

The Korg Microkontrol is the answer against the upcoming of all the midi controllers you see everywhere now (and more specifically, an answer to the Novation Remote25), and it's basically the controller version of the MicroKorg. It's pretty decent (the drumpads are nice), but it suffers from the same problem as the MicroKorg, and that is the keys of the keyboard are really crap. They are very small, and feel very weak (they bend if you apply pressure on them, I kid you not). Overall, if you want a good controller (but also more expensive), I'd still recommend the Remote25 from Novation. You lose the drumpads, but you gain a more sturdy and versatile controller...

Yes of course, but the Roland I'm talking about, I can get for about $1300 to $1500 right now. If I can't afford that one soon enough, I'll just get (i think the brand name is Edirol) 81-key dumb-controller keyboard, which has 8 or 10 sliders for various functions, plus key-sensitivity for about a total of $389 CDN
