Pay Per Download MP3s

Because of the demise of many independent record labels in EDM, many others who are still in the bussines have started to offer MP3s for a price over the net. I think this is a great thing that the record labels are doing to keep themselves from going out of business.
I hope more people will pay the .99 cents for your favorite tune rather than going and dowlonading of of a peer to peer program.
I wrote this because i just saw that www.yoshop.com(deep dish's label) has put up a pay per download section(hooj also has this). I think its great thing they are doing and more and more people should just pay the .99 cents for the fav tune and suspport our ar in EDM to make more fresh new tunes for our enjoyment.
Because when you think about it in EDM not that many vinyls get pressed( about 3000 per song) since EDM is not in the mainstream market, so please either buy the vinyls or just pay the measly .99cents and support the artist, let them enjoy the fruits of their labor.
any views/opnions on this? |

| i totally agree.. labels should press more cds as well since not ALL of ppl that are fascinated with the edm culture are djs.. its nice to see cd-r sigles in stores since many music shops do not carry vinyl.. and paying 99 cents to download is a good idea imo... in that case, you've 'purchased' the track and youre free to do what you want with it.. burn em, play em, whatever.. more n more labels should do this and also release singles on 12" and on cd format as well.. its really sad to see the edm scene struggle in the past few years.. its like theres more djs than average fans now.. |

| I have to agree with Taub and Tek....without the proper support, our favorite EDM artists won't be able to gain the recognition they deserve, while the ones that sellout will continue to make money. |

i am all for it but i want to be able to hear the song at least once before i pay to download it. the one luxury of downloading mp3's is that if it turns out you dont like the song after you listen to it (if you hadn't heard it before), you can just delete it.
but yeah supporting the artists is a good thing and so is the pay as you download idea... |

I look at it as not everyone buys vinyls and most people aren't going to pay for a cd single, thats why a lot of downloading of singles occurs. Now that you can pay for the single download, I think people will start doing this to support the artist.
If people dl britney spears or whatever, who really cares? They have enough money. It's the lesser known artists, especially EDM artists, who take a hit from downloading...it's good that there's a way to support them even from downloading. |
